Nationwide product switch

I have received a mortgage offer recently but the rates dropped. I contacted the lender to ask if I can switch to the lower product but they said they will do hard search again.
Problem is that I have recently taken a phone on credit. Its only £1000, £50 monthly.
I have now paid this off in full but if the lender do the check now it will show.

my question is what is the best solution in this situation? Shall I call them and honestly say what has happened? Will the automatically reject my request?

Comments

  • If they are going to do their credit-scoring thing again for this then the risk is what happens if you fail the credit-scoring. Do you still get to keep the old offer on the higher rate? Or are you left with no offer at all?
From my past, the problem with the high street bank credit scoring is that it's a computer says yes/no thing, not something that can easily be overridden.
