Finding old pensions

Not until the famous Pensions Dashboard is fully operational, and that's a considerable way off as yet.
For now it's a case of checking individual employers/schemes. See https://www.gov.uk/find-pension-contact-details (and don't ever pay anyone to do the tracing for you!).Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1 -
Good evening I'm trying to sort out my partner's pension with a view to claiming it.
Assuming that he's still in the land of the living, with a view to his claiming it (them)?

What is his situation with regard to State Pension?
State Pension Forecast here
https://www.gov.uk/check-state-pension
Is a COPE shown?

Sorry yes he's still alive. My partner is dyslexic and I do all his paperwork. He doesn't get his state pension until he's 67, he's 60 in January. I know he's got a people's pension. He also had a workplace pension in all his jobs but he's lost a lot of the paperwork. There must be somewhere to go to whereyou czn find the info. I really don't want to go down the accountant line if i can do it myself. What's COPE?
Sorry if I don't make sense, I'm on nights.0 -
Thank you both for your replies. I have an NHS pension it was so much easier to claim. I will look at the gov.uk website0

What's COPE?
It is the abbreviation for Contracted Out Pension Equivalent.
If one is shown on your partner's state pension forecast, it indicates that he has at some point in his working life been a member of a contracted out pension scheme (the NHS Scheme was one such).
It is worth checking his state pension forecast (particularly if he has stopped earning/paying/being credited with NI.

There isn't 'somewhere to go' - I'm afraid it's just down to doing the legwork. Your accountant won't be able to do anything you can't do for yourself - you'll still need to provide the necessary basic information, so it's a waste of money paying someone else to do the job.Madbat60 said:Sorry yes he's still alive. See https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6267734/is-there-a-really-detailed-online-method-to-check-nics/p1 and use the link I gave in the second post in that thread to make a Subject Access Request for his full NI history. What he gets will give a full history of his employers. You can then use the tracing service link I've given above if he can't remember all his former employers. Given your partner's age, it is very likely indeed that he will have had 'contracted out' service at some point, which should help the whole process.

Thank you so much for the advice. I will have a look when I've had some sleep1
