Export mpan

I have a similar problem. I applied to Octopus on Dec 6th and got very little communication as to how things were proceeding. I finally received a reply on Jan 2nd. I've put the text of this email below but basically they're telling me I need to contact SPEN myself to get an export MPAN. I'm doing this today. I'll let you know how I get on.
"We've hit a small bump in the process of getting your export tariff set up.Your DNO, Scottish Power Energy Network, have rejected our request as they have changed their process for handling them. Unfortunately, this means that we can not have an export MPAN created for your property which is required to credit you for the excess energy you've exported to the grid.
We're working with the DNO and required parties to resolve this issue, however for now, in order for an export MPAN to be created you will have to contact SPEN yourself. Frustratingly they have two email addresses for different operational departments that process export MPAN applications.
The best one to try is: TradingServices@spenergynetworks.co.uk
However, if that one does not work, the alternative is: GettingConnected@scottishpower.com
I'm sorry for the hassle of this, but unfortunately as SPEN are rejecting our requests, there is no other alternative to progress your application at this time.Love and Power,
Daniel"

- I applied to my DNO for an export MPAN and they came back to me in 3 days on Jan 6th which I immediately sent to Octopus.
- Jan 12th. I received an automated email from Octopus to say that my account had been opened. This is the same email that I would have received if I was opening an import electricity account so it's somewhat confusing. The web site does warn about this but states that "this will quickly be followed by further confirmation to get your export tariff underway". This confirmation never came.
- Jan 16th. I rang Octopus to ask about the further confirmation. Their customer support is very good. They confirmed that the account is now fully opened. I asked them to re-send the confirmation email and it arrived within a matter of minutes.
A few final points about the SEG scheme which emerged from the confirmation email.
- Although they've taken a start meter reading automatically to set up the account they're saying that I will have to take manual readings from my smart meter whenever I want them to credit me.
- To get paid I have to enter my bank details as if I was setting up a direct debit.
I'll maybe drop another blog in the summer. Hopefully, I'll have generated a bit of power by then!

I am now wondering if there is another reason why I've not had an export "bill" for a few months.4.3kW PV, 3.6kW inverter. Octopus Agile import, gas Tracker. Zoe. Ripple x 3. Cheshire0 -
This all sounds horribly familiar...
Our PV was installed in January and like others here I received the G98, HIES and MCS paperwork within days. I then switched to Octopus Flexible stating that I wished to apply for SEG and emailed the paperwork.
Switch went ahead, smart meter installed 21 February, no word on SEG.
Eventually and purely by chance I happened across the SEG application process on the Octopus website so I resubmitted the required paperwork. This was, I guess, early March. Since then there is a notice saying that Octopus have applied for my Export MPAN which usually takes a couple of weeks.
Early March to mid/late April is more like 6 weeks. How do I go about chasing this?

Solar installed and live October ‘22. Due to some special requirements it didn’t get signed off until early January and documents from DNO and MCS supplied to me at end January. As my supplier at the time ( a large multinational who also supply fuel and broadband) was useless (couldn’t get the smart meter that they’d installed and billed me on before I left them the first time, to work for 18 months) and only paying 4p/kWh, I moved to Octopus in early March and applied for export MPAN then. After 5 weeks my application had also not moved. Email’s haven’t been answered yet but a couple of gentle, calm phone calls to their published number has in 4 days accomplished an export MPAN and I’ve just confirmed that my reading agrees with theirs and my export account is live!
The story was that the DNO’s are snowed under and are slow to send the paperwork back. The gentleman who I dealt with was able to search a database and check if the MPAN had been issued and we went from there.8 x Jinko Tiger Neo 54c 415W, Huawei 3k L1 HV ph Hybrid inverter and 2 x 5kWh LUNA batteries on 15° roof facing SW on the southern edge of Bristol.2 -
Hi all. It seems like the DNO's are being bombarded with notifications of solar installs (shocker in the current energy price climate) and as a result they are taking ages to accept notifications and register export mpan's. There is clearly a huge backlog so all you can do its persist with your DNO and hopefully your installer can push for you as well.
I managed to get my inlaws sorted but it took from mid December 22 until the end of April 23 and so it was as long as my own export request at 4 months.
Persevere and it will be worth it.Mortgage Free Wannabe

Now I have moved to the Octopus fixed rate (there are other options like flux etc but this one suits me right now) which pays 15p per kwh. This will also be paid into my account automatically as a seperate credit.
I have smet2 smart meters which are the newer model. No issues with Octopus being able to automatically receive my half hourly export readings.
My inlaws have smet1 so the older smart meters and also no issues.
However I think things are straight forward and more convenient if you are a Octopus customer for electricity too. From my own experience anyway.Mortgage Free Wannabe

Hello - sorry to resurrect an old thread but this one keeps coming up on my Google searches.
Please can anyone advise on which telephone number and email address they used to contact Scottish Power to chase up the confirmation after solar install?
I've been waiting 3 months via the installer and they've been told the DNOs are snowed under.
We've been getting some good solar generation recently and have managed to fill the batteries with a lot of excess so would really like to get this sorted soon so we can start getting paid for export.0 -
We had endless problems getting our export MPAN. Finally, I called National Grid. They send me my number in an email about 5 minutes after speaking to them. I then passed this to Octopus and after a few days went live with it. I wish I had known this earlier it took 2 months faffing about.0

I went through the process twice and both times took around 3 months of endless chasing by myself and my installer.Mortgage Free Wannabe
