Where can I get a decent priced Goose or Duck for Christmas dinner from? Does anyone know some places and maybe some price indication too?

Lidl had some in £14.99 for the goose and £4.99 for the duck also Herons had duck in at £4.99 I am having a Ham this year....8lb £13.38 at the co-op...also co-op have reduced the price of there pork hth's happy holidays:D

I got a frozen duck 4 years ago and mum said "duck don't think I've ever had duck for christmas dinner before..." I also did a small joint of lamb/beef/and pork...so she could have a choice if she didn't like the duck...which turned out very well since it was the first time I'd cooked it...abit dark but nice...that was her last christmas so I am glad I made it abit more special with different things to eat...:Dmerry christmas everyone...:D

Goose is expensive expect to pay anything from £8.50 to £13.50 a kilo. Duck is much cheaper.

I imagine this is because unless otherwise stated duck will be intensively reared in the same conditions as most chickens and without access to water to splash in.

Goose, on the other hand is impossible to rear intensively. They won't comply apparently- sensible birds. Anyway this means they are reared outdoors in flocks flapping and honking to their heart's content and so are more expensive.

I love goose and duck. Goose is a large impressive bird on the table but has less meat on than a turkey. I'm getting a 5.5kg bird for 7 of us and I don't expect to have much leftover after Christmas lunch.

We are having goose this year. We got it from Lidl for £14.99. Can't wait because I've not tried it before. We do usually have duck though. Usually getting one from sainsburys Taste the difference range when on special offer and freezing it.

check the duck is big enough-it may look big but you get less meat than a turkey.
