Put my order in for 2 pairs for £14 - got an email back saying I had to email them a copy of a recent prescription from an optician and needed evidence of my figure for PD - obviously they are trying to make it hard for you to get this offer - I have never had to show evidence like this to any other online glasses seller - I cancelled my order!

I ordered recently and previously and never have to give proof of my PD, just a copy of my prescription.

Pmd the team to move to the shop but don’t drop board.

Hi @jonboysez. Sorry to hear it's been a long-winded process for you.

The MSE write-up does mention that "you can either enter your prescription then and there or opt to send it later".

I hadn't personally heard about the PD evidence though - I'll feed that back to the MSE Deals team.

    Thank you,

  • Why do they need evidence of my numbers? If I get it wrong then its my fault - everyone knows if you buy goods that are tailored to your fit there is no come back, no returns and wouldn't expect otherwise!

This is the reply I got from Glasses Direct -
Please complete both steps below to avoid any delays with your order.

    STEP 1
We need to confirm the details of your prescription before we can proceed. Please take a photograph or scan the prescription, ensuring the whole page is visible, and send it in a reply to this email. If you do not have a copy, your testing optician will be able to provide you with one.

    STEP 2
We also need to obtain an accurate measurement of your pupillary distance (PD). If your PD is self-measured, we would not be able to accept this. Most opticians do not include a PD on a prescription but some will provide this if asked.

For others searching this topic:  The same people (Glasses Direct) asked me for this information as I have ordered varifocals.  They also suggested using the free Android/iOS app GlassesOn.  The app takes a selfie with a magnetic credit card strip in the shot on your forehead.   I've just used this (with an old sports ID card, not a credit card!) and it worked very easily.  I had to google how to do a screen shot on Android to copy the result to Glasses Direct.  Time will tell if it's worked out.
