With all the work I've been having done in the house I've been really distracted and have absolutely no idea how much I've spent over the past month. I know I'm doing ok as I get paid next week and haven't had to use my CC and usually at this time of the month I'm a good....(bad)....150 into my card. I was wondering if it would be cheating to start again from today. I could guesstimate how much I've got left, but I reckon that really would be cheating as it wouldn't be a true figure. I know you've said a million times !!!!! how to calculate how much is left of the year, sorry but can I ask if I restarted today how much I'd have left to play with
hate having to ask. Sorry
Thanx
Hi,
If you look at Nyk's signature we have 289 days left so it is £4k divided by 366 times 289 so that makes £3,158.47.

Pheeeew just got through all the posts.
We went to lovely lincolnshire for a long weekend. We enjoyed the break but the car became very poorly on the way and had to have loads of oil fed to it. We drove at 50mph from m62 ( not sure exactly where)to Ingoldmells. Parked the car at side of caravan and decided to enjoy ourselves and worry about getting home on Monday.
We drove all the way back to Lancs at 50 except for the downhill bit off saddleworth moor M66 I think (freewheeled it and hit 60mph.)
Not sure yet what the damage is but could just be the head gasket or could be we need a new engine. I just hope it is the most frugal of the two. We will know tomorrow when OH strips it down.
WELCOME TO THE WORLD BABY HOLLY.
Just been into Mr T. got £19 of flowers for £1.80. 2 for me and 2 for d.in law.
You are all doing so well. Its not getting any easier with prices going up .
I liked the bit about the barm cakes. I did not know what baps were when I was a teen living in Wilts. Needed one for school cookery class. My mother figured out it must be bread of some sort so went to the bakers and got one.
MARRU i used to make pizza using sardines or mackeral in tomato sauce in the 70's when we had four young kids and a very small income.
I fried an onion till soft then added chopped tinned tomatoes and chopped fish and herbs and simmered them a bit. Then i put it on a base of either scone type dough, bread dough, dough made with suet, a quick oaty bread dough or a round loaf cut in half then added as much cheese as i could spare and put it in the oven till it was hot and the cheese melted. Yummy. I love fish.0 -

I agree. I am very new veggie but I am not a proper one as I still eat fish. When I manage to get smoked mackerel cheaply I tend to have cheese mackerel toastie for breakfast using my very frugal grill bought for £10 ages ago from Mr S and still going strong.

PS I have updated my signature but have tried to keep quiet. After 4 NSDs went for emergy shop and spent over £17.- ssssshhhh"Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

Not to worry, any excuse for me to get my calculator out
I was just about to say similar... my financial OCD is playing up, so I have been number crunching in an effort to control it. Between us (the number cruncher and me) we have decided that, instead of the 60k house challenge amount, we actually need to save £75,000  It's a much prettier number, don't you think? Anyway, it may seem a bit strange thinking along these lines whilst trying to live the frugal life on 4k but IF I had £75,000 saved safely in ISAs generating 5.75% tax free interest per year (paid out monthly into a high interest account, of course)...
Think about it...
I'd be earning MORE than the £76.50 per week it costs me to live!
It would render my own challenge cash neutral! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Scuttling off to dream up ways of magicing 75k into my savings...I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Having been a misery guts for the last 8 days, the sun is shining, everyone else is out and I'm feeling happier and looking forward to tonight (can have a few relaxing days).
Last night, we showed MIL all the bday and Xmas cards that I made for this year. She was really excited and thought they were lovely. So I'm feeling inspired to keep on using up what I already have.
Wasted £20 over the past two days on unavoidable buys (postage, passport photos etc). But should still be enough left over to get OH some bday presents.
Have a lovely day, everyone, and keep your purse/wallet firmly closed.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

A-ha, I knew it! We are in fact twins...you're not living in my attic are you?
Welcome back to the madhouse Jamiedodger, great to see you! Put the last few months behind you as best you can and look forward to the next 9 months with us.
Glad to hear you're feeling more positive Whitewing!
Having to rejig the menu plan here but should only need a few things like green veg and salad stuff to get to the end of the month; don't want to tempt fate but might manage the GC this month...
Despite the 'look how little money we have' conversation yesterday, I mentioned going to a DIY place later in the week to get some things (from my Home Improvement Fund) and OH started rattling on about all these things we 'needed' (which would come out of the 4K) - for example, a lock for our bathroom doorOkay, maybe at some point it'll be helpful to guests if we have one but we hardly ever have visitors at mo, blah blah. He went away quite certain that we didn't in fact need any of the things he mentioned just now :rotfl:
