Good luck to you all - what a challenge! I know I could not stick to this kind of budget. Have far too high expenditure. With a family of 5 (all adult size), and school fares/college fares alone amounting to £60 per week. All the best.0

i have also decided not to include nursery fees for my dd. without sending her to nursery i wouldnt be able to work, so this is an essential work expense.November NSD's - 70

mah_jong,
Will you then be joining our challenge for this year (2008)? We could do with someone else who knows they can do it to keep us all motivated and help us when we slip up..shall we get Nyk to assign you a challenge number?
Now that is a challenge, should I be a participant or a consultant /motivator ....
och ..... go on ...gie's a number !!!!0 -
Hi
Can I join in?
I have £1572 to live on per year after the essential DD's are paid, that is for 2 of us & a tank of tropical fish. I'm excluding the income/outgoings for the lodger as she won't be here past March, so any money I make from her I'll work out & update accordingly.

Hi there folks!!! I have just done a few sums and I am shocked and amazed at how much we SHOULD have left at the end of the year!!! There's only 2 of us as well!!! Can't believe it. So Im all in for this challenge. Just going to read through the post and see what I should do now. Thanks for this new challenge. This will certainly help towards my MFi3 challenge.GM Credit Card balance - £895.69Mortgage - £67499.17 - MFiT no. 123Make £10 a day - April 2008 - £158.75/£3000

If you input your journey into Traveline then it will show you how far you have to walk, bus, train plus the routes and providers - this might find you a more economical public transport system, probably not, but it's just a thought.
I find it very useful for all sorts of journeys. If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!0 -
Thanks for the welcome Kiki!
Have started to crunch the figures and it is going to be hard, but as I dont have much of a choice it gets me to address my finances and spending so avoiding debt! From what I can see most things have to be paid for eg tv licence, phone/broadband etc. Where this is the case it means getting the best deal and limiting the extra cost, for me this means only making telephone calls after 6pm and at weekends. Staying within contract minutes on mobile.
Not spending on clothes/shoes for myself and as I dont smoke, cutting out/down alcohol!
Walking rather than driving or bussing.
Budgeting on food and entertainment seems the only real area of manoeuvre!
Good luck everyone, counting down the days and trying to get organised now.Barole

Hi everyone, haven't managed to read the whole thread but understand the gist of it and am mulling it over... There are only 2 of us on v low incomes; my main problem is I have trouble convincing my OH to being truly MS so I'm working on a way to do this on my own..will be back when I've thought it through a bit more... In the meantime, good luck to you all and hopefully I'll be asking for a number soon! The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000
