i get them from saewoo (i think thats how it is spelt) they have them up and down the country i dont always go for the best brand usually whats on offer ...with curry paste i buy saewoo's own make i think it is called singapore or something ..the way we make it is ...1 stock cube (anyone you fancy) in a pan with boiled water put on cooker slowly stir till melted add a small amount at a time and keep stirring till disolved and as thick as you like add more(paste) if not thick enough and water if too thick i dont know if that's any different from curry powder or not though sorry ...you can add peanut butter if you like a bit of satay sauce not as nice as a proper satay jar but if on a budget it works if you need any other chinese or thai (reason we went to thailand) recipes let me know i dont know it all but i know a few

DH has minced the ingredients for the home made faggots I wanted to try...bless him :D
The recipe said it makes 12 but I have made 24  Obviously, I think smaller :D
So, they are chilling in the fridge before cooking later today then freezing.
    Amazingly cheap.
Got 3 Lamb's hearts + Pig's Liver + Belly Pork for £3.12. The other ingredients (onions, spices and herbs) will probably be another 50p. Recipe recommends 3 faggots + gravy per serving but I will be lucky to manage 1 as they are quite big.

Ingredients looked disgusting before they were all minced but just look like mince now and smell lovely.
  • Hi Whitewing
I'm glad you enjoyed my blog, I do have all the entries in a book format, but I think a lot of people especially my Ex would have a lot to say if I tried to get it published.
With ref to us all being in our early 20's I'm 56, I'll be the first to admit hubby & I do not always have a healthy diet, but there are times when I have £15 a week for food & fares to work for both of us, the only promise I make at times like that is that we won't go hungry, lol.

Would love to be in my 20's, (50 this year:eek: )!

My BF and I went for a lovely stroll in one of our bigger parks on friday. And somehow I forgot myself and offered to pay for a coffee and a sausage bap! What was I thinking?! I must have a mantra in place for when I feel I want to commit such a sin again! That little 'slip-of-the-tongue', set me back £3.70. And as if I hadn't learnt my lesson....I offered to buy a drink at lunch time....£5.15:o . I kept my purse firmly in my bag when the bill for lunch came! I'm not falling for that one again!;)

Also I treated myself to some Daffs...2 bunches for 99p.

I had a particularly difficult night at work last night so treated myself to a frozen pizza, 4 spring rolls and a bottle of Pinot. What can I say....Im weak!:o
    I promise to do better!:A

On the plus side. Our grocery bill has just amounted to:
£10.43 for the week. Not bad I suppose;)

  • Janey - couple of things............I thought you were probably the same age as me (37) from your posts!

Also.........can I come to dinner please.............I love faggots and my mouth is watering now!

Went to the park with my 4 legged boy and what a beautiful day it is. Really warm in the sun. I sat on a bench for a few minutes and thought, we are so very, very lucky and I don't think, at times, we appreciate how lovely the world is.

    right.....philosophy over!!!

    can't make flapjacks..........no sugar.........ah well.........

A couple of more of my 'freezing' things I do. When carrots or courgettes are getting to the end of their lives, I grate or blitz them and wrap in individual little cling film parcels and freeze. I then unwrap and pop in chilli, bolognaise, lasagne mix etc to bulk it out.

Should start work I guess. I'd rather be making cakes though!

Well, I feel that I have walked into a rather surreal world since my last visit!! :D

Personally, I feel no need whatsoever to justify why I am doing this challenge and its benefits; we all know why we are here and how it is helping us. I have enjoyed reading all your 'reminders' though and hope that justme takes the time to read the thread to fully understand what we are about.

I think you're all fabulous and I am very proud to be part of this community :heartpuls xx

Oh, and I'm 12 years off being 20 - not bad for an 8-year-old eh?! :D
