Is one of the symptoms a need to pay for an item (if one really must spend) with a larger coin than necessary so that the resulting change can be squirrelled away in one of the many savings pots which seems to be another sign of an exacerbation of the condition?0

Gosh, me too - I found myself arranging packets of couscous neatly back on the shelf, thinking this'll save them falling over and being wasted .... I was in a shop and they weren't mine! and I resisted them because - tadaa! OH had intentionally bought 2 packs [forgive him, he's learning... ] of plain couscous, saying, "we like this, it's awfully cheap and I know you can always make it taste wonderful, how do you do that?" - gotta love him!
so, looks like we're both going down with a bad case of it.
10 down, the rest of the UK to go..... can we start with the politicians first, please! If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!0 -
I am starting to view "dealing with my debt" as a challenge now, even a game.
2 years ago, DH and I were just starting to realise the monumental hole we were in and it was so tempting to just disappear and run away from everything. But we didn't.
Who would have thought I would be actually laughing at our efforts to save money :rotfl:
Getting back to Frugalitis which I fear is infiltrating every fibre of my body.
I was woken by the terrible weather this morning and my first sleepy thought was: "Oh good, more branches, twigs, pine cones blown down that I can gather for the log burner":T
My spending diary is only 2 and a bit weeks old but I can see where little things are eating into the budget.
Whatever is left from each month's allowance will be going into my Post Office Instant Saver. As you can only make 6 withdrawals a year from this account without penalty, it will curb my temptation to dip in when I am a bit short. I still need access to money for unexpected bills.0 -
I know I suffer from frugalitis because I am completely shocked every time Lollopy Bear spends £5 on public transport. I absolutely can't get over it. (It's different when you have a car because you're not physically parting with the cash on each journey).
And if someone even mentions a taxi I want to scream 'nooooooo!'
That reminds me, I must try and find you an article that was once in the money section of the Times on Tara Palmer-Tompkinson. It is a hilarious example of severely out of control spending.
And did anyone notice Jennie Bond on Wed's It Pays to Watch talking about spending £3K a month on credit cards (okay she pays in full). Jennie the challenge was for a year, not a month, lol!:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Can't do the link. This was a thread by Martin in May of last year Tara-P-T. Money Spending Expert Extraordinaire.
Please, please can someone link it in for me - it's absolutely great! Thought I was rubbish with money (mind you at least she actually has it):heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. I saw Jennie Bond last night and nearly choked when she said what her CC bill was! Even at our most spendthrift, OH and me never spent that much.
I suppose everyone has different lifestyles and spends money differently.
Nearly had a total final cure for frugalitis.Walking through the house in the dark (to save electric and wear and tear on lightbub) tripped over OH's shoes.
It could have been a ploy as he has seen the printout of his pension benefits if I kick the bucket.
He has go the bug as well though. He was given 2 brace of pheasant for nothing. So he plucked them and sold them to someone for £8.0
