State Pension Boost query

I have recently seen Martin Lewis speak about how to check for a state pension boost but I just have an additional query. I checked this on behalf of my mum and she’s got 41 years of contributions with no gap. She intends to retire at 60 despite her state pension retirement age being 67. Will this affect her having gaps in her employment and will she still fully profit from her contributions?

What exactly does her forecast show - not just the top line amount, the amount up to April 22 is the important one ?  If she has already reached the full amount then she does not need to accrue any more and not paying NI will not affect her pension.

I have recently seen Martin Lewis speak about how to check for a state pension boost but I just have an additional query. I would like to check this on my dad’s behalf but wondering if it would be worth it. He is already retired but is not of state pension age yet so he’s not receiving anything just yet. Is this something I could sort for him still?

You need to get a state pension forecast and see exactly what it shows.  SP can be topped up if necessary even after state retirement age.
  • It's super easy to check, he just needs to log onto his account on GOV.UK. Nothing to lose by having a look and seeing how many qualifying years he's got.

    Was the check done here?
