next up.....tumble drier balls

How do you dry bath towels without a tumble drier? In suitable weather, including winter days with a good drying wind, they go on the washing line in the garden, but on wet days they’d never dry indoors.Katiehound said:
Tumble driers definitely aren't MSE! with the cost of electricity now I suspect most folk will be 'putting them in mothballs!'Scrimps said:
Eh? They break driers or a point against tumble driers?Katiehound said:I think the answer to this one is likely to be... next up.... get rid of the tumble drier! Those of you with heated airers, what does happen to the water driven off from the wet clothes? Do you place the airer in the bathroom with the window open, or in a sheltered place out of doors? Or does the water just evaporate into the general air of the house, and if so how do you stop it condensing on walls and windows and furnishings?“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

I've not used my tumble dryer at all this year and just been drying washing, including towels on a normal, not heated, airer. I just make sure I use the fastest spin speed which on my machine is 1600 rpm. The vast majority dries by the next morning particularly if I've been able to hang on the line for at least a couple of hours to get the worst out.

@Blue_Doggy, the water vapour disappears, just like with an unheated airer
HOWEVER, I’ve moved house many many times. Some properties really prone to damp, and others without any issues. For the damp ones I’ve always run a dehumidifier when drying indoors, whether on a heated or unheated airer. In my current house (which is quite airy) it’s fine just near a window cracked open a bit. I tend to have it in whichever room I’m spending time it helps heat the room too0 -
In the autumn we built a lean to off the back of the house and put a washing line up in it. That’s helped in getting washing dry. We’ve had to finish a couple of loads in the tumble dryer (I have the wool balls in there but I don’t think that they have made any discernible difference but like others I’ve paid for them so I’ll keep using them 😀). This time last year the tumble dryer was being used almost every day and we were guilty of just shoving a load of washing in as it was easier than hanging up all year round. I have a dehumidifier which is on 24/7 almost as I have a damp house and we are using it when stuff is not drying quickly outside by putting it next to the airer.1

we have a 1600 spin washer, wife is doing a 2nd spin but as the washer is over 5 years old we may go for a faster spin, maybe a washer drier and sell our condenser drier0

Don't know if you're aware but you can only dry half a wash at a time so you'll need to split the wash into 2 before drying or if you want it to go automatically into drying you can only wash half the amount so twice as many loads.maxmycardagain said:we have a 1600 spin washer, wife is doing a 2nd spin but as the washer is over 5 years old we may go for a faster spin, maybe a washer drier and sell our condenser drier
I wouldn't have a washer/dryer if you paid me.
