Great find @Makingabobor2
I've been struggling to find some slow cooker recipes that aren't from the USA. Looks like there are plenty dishes on there that would suit me 👍"a workman, even of the lowest and poorest order, if he is frugal and industrious, may enjoy a greater share of the necessaries and conveniences of life than it is possible for any savage to acquire."0 -
Look at these- cakes and desserts! I am feeling hungry already.
seems that my small sc is not the most suitable as cakes tend to burn!

Just cooked my first cake in a slow cooker!
success
used the giant free sc that I found- baked a tea loaf in a 2lb tin. yes, it worked. Took 3 hours (solar panels so cost nowt.)Outside of loaf is a bit like a steamed pud, not a crunchy edging but otherwise fine.
Well pleased!
Will be experimenting with more non-slimming ideas.

yes, I put the tin in the sc because it is a massive thing. With about 1" of water.
If I had cooked a cake in the ceramic pot it would have been larger than a Christmas cake!
seems that the small sc is more likely to burn cakes/ puddings
I read all the tips on the bakingqueen website as above.

well if I was going to buy another-( bought the small one 1.5l, found the huge one- about 5.5l !) I would get the medium round one- 3 .5 litres
I will try making some bread- think the big one might not manage that!- just too big
Just pasted this:
"Slow cookers range in capacity, from a compact 1.5 litres up to 7 litres. As a general guide, a 1.5 to 2.3-litre capacity is great for two people, a larger 4 to 4.5 litres will feed four, and 5.5 to 7 litres is ideal for four to six people."

Yes, suddenly they are on the wish list!
I bought the small one earlier this year @ around £13/£14, now it is £18. I find the small one is perfect- just me, for ham in cola, Delia's red cabbage, chicken casserole etc. I only have a small freezer which is bursting at the seams so can not batch cook.
My small one has a power light- really handy. the free one doesn't!
Still what do I expect for free????
Not sure how I struggled up the road towing 2 dogs behind as it is really heavy.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
