Four more 'banking hubs' are to open in the UK in the coming months, taking the planned total to 27. The aim is to boost people's access to cash as bank branches continue to disappear from the high street. Here's where they're set to open.

Looking at the list of towns they're in seems that Looe isn't in Cornwall as i'd always thought - it's in Devon !
Ummmmm, no !2 -
Hi Catsacor,
You're quite right - Looe is in Cornwall, not Devon. We've corrected this in the story.
Thanks,

Access to cash is of course invaluable; likewise, the Post Office list of what members of each bank can do.
But that list doesn't include all the services that I can only use at a branch of my own bank (HSBC), such as those only accessible via my bank's own Express Banking machines, which have only so far been installed inside their own branches. If HSBC isn't involved in staffing the sole new London banking hub at Acton, as the article says, then will that hub nonetheless have an HSBC Express Banking machine for its customers to use? If not, then the hub won't help HSBC customers with their other needs; we'll still need to get to one of the increasingly rare HSBC branches.0 -
I don't ever understand why in these bank hubs the banks don't just install their own machines you'd find in the branches (like the HSBC express banking ones) for the days that the allocated rep isn't at the desk for queries.
At least people will be able to service their accounts and get specific account related information thus giving added functionality.

Banking hubs are gradually being opened, why should our discussion be limited to when MSE decides to report on them?

However many banking hubs open, I still don’t believe it’s a replacement to having a dedicated branch due to the limited functionality of hubs. Although, I do understand it’s better than nothing for smaller or rural communities.0
