Lowell being sneaky!

Hey folks,
My partner received a letter from Lowell about a debt to Natwest. OH wasn't sure if it was statue barred so we wrote back and asked for proof he owed the debt.
Lowell wrote back with an "account summary" for Capital one (Not from Capital one, its been typed on Lowell letter head) stating the last payment was in 2020. Nothing was mentioned about NatWest. Lowell stated they had requested further info and would write when they received more documentation and they had put the account on hold. We haven't had the documentation.
We have THEN received a letter from Lowell yesterday with BOTH debts on asking him how he is going top pay them, they have also now started to text again. But we havent received any of the requested documentation from them.
What letter do we need to send? OH will of course pay if he owes the debt but its a bit naughty of them to request payment when we are waiting on them to provide documentation.

The letters are computer generated and will be sent out by the thousand. You could send the prove it letter for the second debt they are chasing, but the computer will still churn out letters while you are waiting.Credit card debt - NIL
Home improvement secured loans 30,130/41,000 and 23,156/28,000 End 2027 and 2029
Mortgage 64,513/100,000 End Nov 2035
2022 all rolling into new mortgage + extra to finish house. 125,000 End 20361 -
I *think* you just send the prove-it letter again, with a note confirming it is the second request for the details, and that you will not engage with them further until the paperwork is received.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
Balance as at 01/09/23 = £115,000.00 Balance as at 31/12/23 = £112,000.00
Balance as at 31/08/24 = £105,400.00 Balance as at 31/12/24 = £102,500.00
£100k barrier broken 1/4/25
Balance as at 31/08/25 = £ 95,450.00. Balance as at 31/12/25 = £ 91,100.00

Ok I will get OH to send the "Prove it" for Capital One.
In regards to proof - They have already provided details for capital one - however OH requested proof for NatWest........
The "proof" is literally typed on a Lowell letter head like this:
"Noted content of letter and understand you have now knowledge of account, we are able to offer the following info:- Agreement start date
- Address
- etc
And so on. Presumably this isn't enough "proof" ?0 -
If the account has been put on hold though, OH shouldn't be getting letters?SusieT said:The letters are computer generated and will be sent out by the thousand. Theoretically you are correct, but they have probably sent you the reply and taken it off hold, and that is assuming they actually put a hold on it in the first place!Mimi_Arc_en_ciel said:

Or the other way round, `Have sent the letter explaining what is happening eg awaiting more info, then place the account on hold.SusieT said:
