So I’m confused after Martins call to arms to check the state pension pot.
I retired at 55 in Jan 2015. When I checked last night it said I had 40 yrs full contributions but the last 6 yrs ( since I retired ) I haven’t paid enough in.
It said at 2015 my pension would be £155 pw. Then it says my projected pension is £171 pw. Maximum being £185 pw.
Each of those six year it says it would cost £800 to top up.
Each of those six year it says it would cost £800 to top up.
1. Does that mean it wants me to pay 6 yrs worth of £800, or do I buy just one.
2. Which pension projection am I going to get, the £155 or the £171.
3. Is it worth Me buying any at all, I’m 63 in Feb.

Really confused now ( which isn’t hard to do to be fair )

Your pension forecast will give several amountsA top line figure of what you can achieve going forwardA figure of amount accrued as at April 2022 (or maybe still at April 2021 but the amount will be at 2022 values)A maximum you can achieve. The important one is the up to April 2022, that is what you currently have and what you can top up from. Each £800ish spent on buying a year will increase your pension by £5.29 per week. What are those numbers including the pence ?0
