Tesco won't release funds for Amazon Purchase

I'm posting this for a friend (no, really!). She's trying to buy something on Amazon but her bank, Tesco, won't release the funds as they are saying she inputted the wrong CVV no on her Amazon account. However, Amazon doesn't ask for your CVV number when registering a credit card, right?

Yes, I can add a new card and they ask only the number, name and the expiry date.
I think Tesco are talking rubbish.

I can guess that Tesco require the CVV to authorise a transaction, but Amazon cannot provide it.

Never used my CVV number with Amazon, but then again, every purchase from Amazon also requires me to authorise the payment in my card providers app. I'd try using a different card if possible.

I use I use my Tesco credit card all the time for Amazon and have never been asked for CVV. Tesco no longer have current accounts so it can’t be a debit card.
I think you need to check the information with your friend or get them to post here.

Tesco do have the pre-paid debit card Clubcard Pay + which could be used on Amazon.
