temporary job ending earlier than contract date

i work for a cleaning company in a government building which is supposed to shut 31/12/2022 as stated in employment contract and i expected to work to that date but have been told building may be shutting on 9/12/2022, are my employers able to end contract earlier than original date?

    Yes.  As long as they give you the required notice, probably 1 week.  My wife had a temporary contract for 6 months but the work was completed in under 2 months.  No work, so the contract ended.

    Yes. you may be entitled to redundancy pay and/or payment in lieu of notice depending on how long you have worked for them
