How much notice before train strikes ?

Travel date is December 3 +4 - is it about 2 weeks notice that the unions have to give ?
Dosnt appear to be that many tickets left for my dates, but i dont want to go through all the delay/repay shennanigans again either, guess will have to wait it out and if there are strikes announced / or no strikes and tkts sold out, have to go up in car..

If you are travelling on Avanti West Coast, they'll only release tickets for weekend dates a few days beforehand:
