Can't claim Student Loan refund
Options
Hi,
Student loans company keep sending me letters saying they owe me £177 which i overpayed in Student Loan.
They send me a letter with a phone number to ring. When i ring the number, the Phone-bot says it has sent a number, and asks for this to be keyed in...however, i dont have a smart phone, so i cant get to this number whilst on the call. Do you know any way round this?
I have actually written a (ink-pen) letter to student loans co in Glasgow, giving all my details including bank details, but they still just keep sending me the letter with the phone number to ring up.

Sounds like 2FA, designed to make your access more secure.
How is it sending you the secure number? By text? Which should work on any mobile, not necessarily a smart mobile. Presumably it is sending it to a number that you have already registered with them as a measure of security. If you phoned from a different phone would it then enable you to be able to read the text with this secure number? Eg you phone from a mates’ phone or a landline and then you could read the SMS text off your phone and enter it on the phone you are using for the call.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
