Council tax

I currently live in an end terraced house and have discovered that my banding is D and my neighbours is B. My house was extended previously before we bought it. I have looked into the process however I need to find properties in my area of a similar size which is proving difficult. There are houses streets away which are valued much higher than mine. Can anybody advise me what to do. I think to bev2 bands higher than my neighbours is a bit much. Thank you for reading

If there are no comparative houses nearby its almost impossible to have your band changed. My band is the highest in my street due to an extension by previous owners, I'm 6 months into requesting it to be checked and getting nowhere. I have lots of comparable house next to me. Unfortunately the CT process in this country is a shambles.

A 6 month wait for a decision from the VOA is not unusual
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Was there a marker on the property account when you purchased it, due to the extension created by the previous owners?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Then your conveyancer should have alerted you to the improvement indicator being in place that would result in a higher banding upon change of ownership.
