My self assessment tax return is not complicated but I would like to know if I can pay someone who could help me just once or get some tips on the best YouTube  videos to guide me through each section.

I have paid a firm of accountants to complete my tax return when I moved to France & had a complicated situation with a split year. It cost me about £500 & I had to provide an awful lot of guidance to them to get it right but I was more confident that HMRC would not question the figures if submitted by an accountant rather than me.

Last year I started using the TaxCalc software to complete my return & found it very straightforward & good value at £35 https://www.taxcalc.com/

I then discovered TaxScouts who were charging a flat rate £99 for a named accountant who you interact with online to do your tax return (the price now is £149) https://taxscouts.com Again I still had to provide a lot of guidance but my accountant eventually completed my return & I received a tax rebate of £20,000 within a couple of months.

Next year I will use TaxCalc & do the return myself.
