We defrosted ours really quickly at weekend. My husband carried it outside so that it didn't matter if it dripped on the floor. Then we took the shelves out and put a big bowl of boiling water in the botom and shut the door. We swapped the bowls of water as they cooled down and with fresh hot ones. within half an hour the ice was loose enough to just lift it out. the freezer was completely defrosted washed out and back in the kitchen within an hour.
It made a big drippy mess on the patio, but it's only water.Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in.

I put a washing up bowl on the top shelf and sit in front of the freezer with a hairdryer on full belt :rotfl:
It works a treat, doesn't take long and is very satisfying seeing the iceberg fall off the 'roof' part.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
I defrosted my freezer last week. I have a steam cleaner and it has an attachment on it to defrost the freezer, worked a treat and only took about an hour:j0

Foods into a polly bag and outside in the cold piled on top of each other to keep cool, get your biggest hairdryer possible and put it on full pelt, then towels under the freezer to take the water, took me 15 mins and the food stayed chilled outside while freezer came back to temp0

Years ago my dh thought he'd be clever and defrost it with a hairdryer. He broke the thermostat thinggy and it cost me over £60 to get it fixed (that was just for labour, the parts were covered). Before we got the frost free one, I just used to use the basin of hot water and plenty of towels!0
