point taken
But what HMRC mean by emergency tax is not what OP meant by it.
nor what it is taken to be in common parlance.
Which is why the mistake should be corrected:heartpuls baby no3 due 16th November :heartpulsTEAM YELLOWDFD 16/6/10"Shut your gob! Or I'll come round your houses and stamp on all your toys" The ONE, the ONLY, the LEGENDARY Gene Hunt :heart2:0 -
Whatever:
I am in agreement with you that they will use the Code 522L - One minute you say that emergency tax is not the basic rate, then you say that it remains 522L; which is pretty much the basic rate...my info is from the HMRC website as mentioned earlier.0 -

Emergancy tax code is 522L (either W/M 1 or not) A *normal* personal allowence/tax code is usually the same!
BR is 22% of everything earnt with NO allowences!!
522L is NOT the basic rate - they are two totally different things!!
NOT anywhere have I contradicted myself!!!:heartpuls baby no3 due 16th November :heartpulsTEAM YELLOWDFD 16/6/10"Shut your gob! Or I'll come round your houses and stamp on all your toys" The ONE, the ONLY, the LEGENDARY Gene Hunt :heart2:0 -
I don't know - emergency and emergancy are totally different things - but in the context of the original question I think the point is now somewhat mute.0

I am not arguing
You disagreed with what I said
When I pointed it out in a way that you could no longer disagree you got personal and sarky to say the least
I was quite happy discussing the EMERGENCY tax code but you appear to have swayed off topic :heartpuls baby no3 due 16th November :heartpulsTEAM YELLOWDFD 16/6/10"Shut your gob! £1000 per month on tax code 522L = £101.92 in tax.
£1000 per month on BR (basic rate) = £220 in tax.
Does that sound the same thing to you?
TigTag is correct and the OP is not clear about what he means by Emergency Tax. However there is no point in making matters worse by giving inaccurate information.0 -
