Air fryer - a vegetarian and a meat eater

Hello. Like lots of people, we’re looking at whether cooking with an air fryer could save us money however one of us is a meat eater and one is a vegetarian.

Do any other vegetarians share an air fryer with a meat eater?  Are they easy to clean beyond the food compartments, such as the elements etc?

We don’t cook together so wouldn’t have both food types in it at the same time, but I’m just thinking of all the air whizzing about which could carry fat from a prior meat meal if it’s hard to clean.

Does anyone have any recommendations that might me particularly suitable for us?

Thanks in advance!

The description 'air fryer' is being used to cover a multitude of multi-cookers. Ease of cleaning is similarly variable, depending on the design of the one you purchase and the functions it offers. Any thoughts on that?

Instead of worrying about the odd speck of fat landing on the vegetarian's food (and if you currently cook in a fan oven, that too would have a similar issue, albeit in a rather larger space), maybe covering the food, cooking inside foil/a small dish might resolve that concern?
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

Thank you! If we find one that works for us that has other options, I’m sure we would explore them but we’re really just invested in the functions that save us from switching on the oven.

Re the fat issue and a regular oven….for some bizarre reason, we’ve never actually thought of that before! Obviously not as high a priority as first thought then - thanks for highlighting! 😂

Thank you - I’ll look into that. Even if it’s in short supply just now, it’s a good place to start for understanding our needs. I appreciate it!

Simply buy 2 and use one each, the ones with twin compartments can cost more than 2 separate machines  - mine is 3.8 litre capacity -  doesn't have stirring paddles or a basket simply a lift out trivet- and I wouldn't want it any smaller, had it 3.5  years and not used the oven since getting it (less than £60 at the time)

It crossed my mind but we’ve a small kitchen and not really enough space for two. Although worth considering if we have a cupboard clear out, of course! Mind you, as I under it even the small ones sound like they may be too large for the cupboards so perhaps would have to be left out on counter top.

Really useful to understand your limits re capacity. I will keep that figure in mind as I research. Thank you.

Mine stays out Max height is about 13" and the same for width - an M&S 1/2 cooked chicken fits almost exactly, an oven bake baguette needs cutting in half

Have a look on marketplace and local selling groups when you decide which one you want. My local selling groups are full of the dual drawer ninjas as a lot of people think they will use it and never/rarely do so end up selling them cheaply.

I had one and ended up giving it away as never used it.

Be aware that there are a lot of scam ads on Marketplace for ridiculously cheap air fryers, usually sold as "unwanted gift" or "still boxed". They have multiple shots of the fryer, but they all have different kitchen backgrounds/work surfaces.
"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.

I wouldn't buy second hand when, Amazon for example, have a range of large capacity ones for under £60
