Have I ruined chance of getting mortgage?

Help!
I’m imminently going to be buying a house and applying for a mortgage- just need to get into gear and see a mortgage advisor. But at the weekend I opened a new current account with Monzo which I had been planning for a while. I didn’t realise that they would do a hard search on my credit file because there is an overdraft (only £50 though) with the account which I also didn’t realise you didn’t have to have. The hard search is appearing on my Experian credit score account but my score is still showing as 999 which is in the excellent category and I have no debt, paid all bills on time etc. Everything I have read online since opening says don’t open new accounts and credit searches within 6-12 months of applying for large loans and mortgages. I’ve since cancelled the overdraft on the new bank account and I am trying to cancel the switch to keep the original current account open in an attempt to limit the damage. But I am really panicking now that I won’t be able to get a mortgage because of this! Has anyone got any advice or reassurance?

I would not worry too much, it should not be a deal breaker.
If you have not already, just stick to using your existing bank account. Its not a deal breaker, but it makes life easier having the one bank account in use.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I wouldn't worry. Unless you have atrocious credit which you clearly don't, opening an extra account isn't going to be at the deal breaker for your new mortgage.
