Inland Revenue - P53Z

I completed a P53Z form as directed by Inland Revenue to claim back my emergency tax on my small private pension pot which I withdrew. I am 55 and decided to use it now rather than wait. I completed and sent in the form on 18 August 2022 and am still waiting. My reference on line says should be completed by 7 September but it may be delayed as they are doing some extra work. I left it a further few weeks before trying to contact them. It is now 17 October and I still have not been 'dealt with'. I have spoken to two employees. One man was so rude and just didn't want to help me so basically wasted my time and money on the call. The second employee a very nice lady seemed to help. She said someone from another department would call me back. We set up a password and I waited. I am still waiting 9 days later! I have tried again on numerous occasions to speak with someone and am just left listening to a voicemail recording for nearly an hour each time. I absolutely despair and am not sure what to do next. Has anyone else had the same problem?
Basically if you can guide me in any way I would be more than appreciative. Thank you.

You are not alone having trouble getting a service from HMRC.  I submitted a P55 form online on 7 July.  Estimated completion was 28 July.  Having heard nothing from HMRC, on 27 September I submitted a complaint to HMRC online.  The complaint is supposed to be processed within 15 working days.  The deadline was 18 October - no response to date - so they have missed the target date for this also.   I am awaiting a tax rebate in excess of £4k so this is very annoying.  Is anyone else having problems with tax rebate applications?

Try asking on https://community.hmrc.gov.uk/customerforums/ and see what response you get there from HMRC.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

It's a complete shambles at the moment, lots of people on various financial forums complaining of delays at HMRC. I submitted a paper self assessment return back in April which they say still hasn't been processed and that it could take another 12 weeks, which is a bit to close to the payment deadline for my liking.
