Please please can someone tell me a way of getting rid of an infestation of carpet beetles. I’m at my wits end!! My hoover isn’t much help as it’s on its last leg’s.  I need to know what chemicals are going to work the most effectively. Thank you 🙏

It does give a long detail list of what you can do at home and as a last resort call out a expert

So there we have it, your guide on how to get rid of carpet beetles. All you need to do is find the source, vacuum thoroughly each day, throw away infested items and wash everything else in hot water. If you have been struggling against a carpet beetle infestation and are at your wit's end it may be time to call in the professionals.

can you borrow a more powerful hoover from any one

  • I wonder if moth balls would help ..... just thinking aloud, no experience on carpet beetle but definitely with silver fish and clothes moths.

That’s not a bad idea Brambling. I’m sure my friend will let me use hers.  I don’t know why I didn’t think of that 🤦🏻‍♀️😄

How about a Rug Doctor? About £22 a day, maybe worth a go!

  • How big an area is it? Could you slather the carpet in salt and leave for a couple of days before hoovering up?
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.

Would one of the smoke flea bombs work?

If you are desperate, not something I would want to use as they kill all insects in the room. But they cost about £6, a colleague used one in a house they bought, having tried everything else. I was upset it killed spiders.
  • From experience you need to use some decent chemicals - and use them quite a few times.   I did a combination of a powder, spray and smoke bomb. It’s hard work and imo just a vacuum won’t make any difference and you risk spreading to other rooms (or homes if you borrow one).
