I could be wrong, but I think it comes in at mid-night of the 23rd - so you missed out by a couple of hours...

    Did you use a solicitor?
  • Yes and I have emailed them but no response yet, on the GOV web site it has dates up to 22/09/2022 its not very clear and I could save £1300 alot of money.

The completion date is on the 23/09/2022 and you are a first time buyer then should not be liable for stamp duty.

Have you paid stamp duty already to your solicitor? They will refund the payment.

Use the calculator and enter the completion date https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/calculate-stamp-duty-land-tax/#/intro
  • We are not first time buyers, but we did not complete until 2pm on the 23rd September. using the calculator it appears we are due a refund just now need the solicitors to respond to my messages.

Enter the figures in the gov calculator will tell you what the charge should be and will know what you are due back.

I am surprised your solicitor has not yet contacted you. Contact them to find out.
