Halifax Mortgage with CCJ

Would you need to use a broker to secure a mortgage with Halifax or could you go directly if you had a CCJ 5 years old for £509 and a recent late payment on on a credit card? Deposit would be around 50%
Thanks

@newheight13 There's no need to use a broker to access Halifax (or indeed any other high street lender). You could try out a Halifax AIP/DIP direct. If it passes, then that's as much assurance as you can get at this stage about the CCJ. You can then just progress the application direct.
Unless there's a particular reason you want to use only Halifax, there may be other mainstream lenders that are cheaper (check the MSE mortgage comparison here https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/mortgages/best-buys/ ). If it's a fee that's putting you off using a broker, there are plenty of fee-free brokers, the MSE guidance here can help you find one. Fee-charging or fee-free, it doesn't make any difference to the rate you get.
