Transfer of Equity

If I transfer 50% of the equity in my house to my partner, will i need to remortgage and pay an early redemption fee (there's currently 4.5 years left on my current mortgage deal) or will Santander just add her name to the mortgage. The house is worth approx £550,000 with £260,000 outstanding on the mortgage, I've tried to phone santander but each time I've been on hold for over an hour
