    Hi Scarlett,

The responses you've had have been spot on. The only other alternative would be if you knew somebody who was looking for a car and they were prepared to take on the finance agreement.

To do it properly through the finance company; it is called "assigning the lease"?

What sort of car is it? We're looking for some new wheels.:D

    Richard

    Hi Richard :)

It's a Ford Focus CMax, 54 plate, metallic dark blue, very low milage - it was an ex mobility car and we've not done many miles in it. It's a lovely car, I shall be sad to see it go :( H says I will have to lower my standards once we go go BR, but it's partly my "high standards" that got us into this mess :o

  • You've had some good answers here, My other thought pattern would be to save the money you would have spent on hp at home in cash, and if your br before the car gets taken away you'll have enough at home to buy a runabout and the or can just let the company reposess your car and your new car could actually be your kind old dad's car that he's letting you (ahem) borrow and the fact it's worth so little wouldn't arouse any questions from the or.

Just a thought, you would use this example at your own risk

    Thanks Ian :)

I was actually thinking along those lines last night once I realised that it could take a while for the car to be re-posessed. So....... we could 'save' the car finance money for as long as it takes for the finance co. to take it back and use that money to purchase a old runaround, even if this happens AFTER BR?

  • Evening all :)

Sorry to bump this one back up but I have more questions :o

IF the car we have now hasn't been reposessed by the time we go BR (18th Feb) and we buy a cheap runaround AFTER BR is the OR likely to question this IF it happens before our interview? Ie. ask where they money has come from to buy the new car? Would we be better off trying to hold onto the current car for as long as possible (while saving the monthly payments for the runaround) and purchase the runaround after our interview? Would we be doing wrong to do this? Would we have to tell the OR about this and explain where the money has come from?

Sorry for the barrage of questions :o

Could the car have been given to you as a pesent? Don't know if that is feasable or if we are just over thinking it.

I'm sure one of the experts will be along soon.
