CCJ

I checked my credit score yesterday only to see a CCJ added. It was on an address I left 16years ago. I have received no correspondence although my present address is on the electoral role + I have lived in my present address for 14 years. I have emailed the court for information as O have no idea what it’s for but it is causing a lot of distress + I can’t sleep. My credit report states that there are no missed payments at any previous addresses. Please help

Most likely car related then, parking ticket, speeding fine, something like that, the court should be able to tell you who the claimant is.

Although a CCJ is annoying, and requires attention, it should not cause sleepless nights, it`s just a money judgement, not the end of the world, it can be sorted quite easily.

Thank you but it’s for £2391. I’ve always changed my address on my driving license as soon as I’ve changed address + I was not given the opportunity to pay it as I received no correspondence.

You've done the right thing to ask the court for the particulars of claim. Post again with the info you receive, if you need to.

At this stage it could be anything. Is the date of the ccj recent?

You also need to change the address on the V5 to avoid car related tickets and fines going to your old address. Do you have any car registered at the old address that you still have or have recently sold? If yes, this is likely the cause of the CCJ.

    I doubt it's car-related for £2391

But we'll soon know, I hope.
