John Lewis - cashback / rewards etc ?

My dad is planning to buy something from John Lewis that costs around £800. Is there any way to maximise cashback or rewards for this purchase? He's got TopCashBack but they only pay JL rewards in Avios airmiles and its unlikely that he will ever spend them. He doesn't have a Partnership Card, but opening one could be an option if the rewards are worth it.
