Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC, we cross posted! It seems fine this morning, still dark, but the forecast is good.I was busy with Christmas stocking making yesterday, for my Australian family. I'm quite pleased with them so far, I've completed 1 small and 2 large, and am now waiting for fabric that I've ordered from Etsy to do the last one. I interlined the 2 large ones with thin wadding between the lining and outer fabric to give them a bit of body and softness, and it's worked well. When i was looking at fabric for the stockings, I saw a really nice one patterned with robins and leaves in muted colours, on a white background, it was thickish cotton and wide enough for a Christmas tablecloth, so I bought some. That can be made after we come back from visiting family in the south west, I won't have time this week.I'm visiting a housebound friend this morning, and have the usual household jobs to do.Nanny, your idea of gin and chocolates for your Dd with Covid is excellent, she might need the paracetomol if she overdoes the gin though!Nels, glad to read that your mum was in good spirits.Izzy, your eye sounds painful, hope the anti b's help.Hope everyone else is all right today, take care folks.10

Morning All
Thanks for the starts, difficult to decide which to post on!
Yesterday started off dull and very breezy but turned into a horrible wet and windy day. I had put washing out that partly dried but it had to finish off inside. I had the fire lit so it's dry this morning and all put away.
Had a good time with the little one, she was as good as gold. We went swimming and played a lot. I asked her on the way home if she had missed her Mum and Dad, she said no!
Once she had been taken home I cracked on with the housework, need to be on top of things this week as I'm away very early (5am) on Friday morning to Istanbul - I may bump into dp1's DD! The fridge is emptying nicely, I can switch it off when I go. The chap is coming to service the boiler on Friday but I can leave him a key, he's very trustworthy. I haven't had the heating on yet so hope there aren't any problems.
Hope your eye is improving Izzy and Nanny's DD isn't too bad with her hangover Covid.
Happy Monday, take care. XX

Morning all,
Didn't post yesterday as a bit busy. Once BFF had gone home, I painted a large pine wardrobe with French!c paint. Took a while and will need 2 more coats, but looking good! I took myself off to see The Lost King yesterday - felt very indulgent going mid-afternoon. Based on a true story and loved Sally Hawkins.
Sorry to hear your DD has covid @nannywindow - hope the symptoms are mild
That's bad about your kitchen @Madbat60 - so annoying
Hope the doctor can help @IzzyBee - sounds awful
Congrats to your DD @RedRuby1231 on the property purchase - wishing her well
Talking of DDs, mine had a conversation with (ex) BF last night and looks like they are back on - I'm speechless....
Will be making SW sweet chilli chicken tonight. DH back late but if he doesn't want dinner it'll be leftovers for tomorrow.
Have a good day all,
Coxy

Morning! It's raining and that wasn't on the forecast which means the sheets will stay on the line another day. I put them on Saturday but was out all day yesterday so they didn't get taken in...Went to the Knitting and Stitching show, so we hit some stalls first then went to the prosecco bar and did some drunk retail therapy after that. I got more fabric, some African wax print and a type of printed worsted wool to make a hoodie with and a couple of things for presents. Fairly restrained for me..Saw a lovely coat but it was too small for me but the stallholder did his best to get me to buy something. Failed though...I have a jab this mornng, lunch out, then a visit to a mattress shop with OH later. We've decided we need a softer mattress, ours is an orthopaedic one which was lovely for a few years but now makes us feel like we've been run over by a bus when we wake up. Thems the perils of ageing bodies in disrepair... And I'll make a lasagne for tonight. It's comfort food weather.Gers, I'm going to try thr remake of Blythe Spirit to see how it stacks against the original Scarlet, got your Christmas on nice and early Camelot, holiday or visiting? Or both? Izzy, hope your eye improves, must be very annoying and irritating. WL, good luck with the day out, parts of the M4 are shut so maybe check in advance...Coxy, I've got some of that paint but haven't got round to using it yet, is it good? madbat, I remember well the endless takeaways when I didn't have a oven/cooker, it's very wearying after a week or so, you just yearn for a proper meal. nanny, hope your dd shrugs it off quickly. Take care all, it's nasty out there...wrap up!Shampoo? No thanks, I'll have real poo...9

Morning all
Pouring with rain here but the sun is due out later, I left some washing on the line yesterday so like Taff it can stay out, hopefully the sun will dry it off.
I heard last night that one of my clients has tested positive, last week another one turned up with a streaming cold and cough and I asked him to do a test which was negative, but im wondering now if he had the start of covid and has passed it on, the other client is vulnerable so I am hoping he is ok, I have had a sore throat for 2 days and have been testing but negative so far.
I had three clients due today but one lives with the chap who tested positive so im down to two, hopefully they are both ok, we are due to go bowling and lunch out so hopefully they will turn up, I will do another test this morning to make sure im ok.
Egg and bacon for dinner tonight with some bread and butter, I think there may be some sausages in the fridge too so I will cook them for OH, I am not keen on sausages.
Yesterday dd and I sanded down some furniture we got in the charity shop, I did a small hallway unit, which I then waxed and its come up beautiful its an old oak cabinet and it looks much refreshed after having the wax put on, DD did a upright cabinet which we got outside someones house with a free sign on, she sanded it and we have painted it in a charcoal colour, I think both will need a second coat but they look good. We have got a good few bits for her now and people have been so kind, we have got a wm and fridge freezer and sofa for free !
Nanny I hope your dd is ok and has a mild dose xxx
Have good days all xx9 -
Blooming heck...two threads so, two posts!Morning. Thanks for starting us off Scarlet.Yesterday's weather wasn't even close to the horrendous forecasts. There were several showers, some persistent drizzle and one almighty short lived downpour. Mind you, it was much colder than last week. I dug out my gilet again and had a blanket over my knees sometimes.I got caught up watching the two very ancient Miss Marple films, Margaret Rutherford in full black and white flow. Part of my pleasure is trying to spot other actors. In the second one a very young James Bolam was the baddie.Today I'm off to Oban for some shopping, the fridge is bare. On the way I'll call in on a friend to organise our outing to a show in December, we have to co-ordinate several people. The huge moon was so beautiful though it kept me awake for some of the night so I expect to sleep well tonight. 💤💤
Hugs to everyone who can use one. Happy Monday to all.

Coxy, I went to see The Lost King last night, I loved it (but then again, it was Steve Coogan 😍!)2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Unlike you GERS my post remains in the other thread! All went well with my Ocado delivery. A lovely young lady delivered it 5 minutes early with nothing subbed or out of stock. All fruit and veg looks really fresh and all fridge stuff has a long date on them. That's the way to do it Tesco! So a thumbs up from me and I will definitely use them again.
Oh dear RUBY I hope you remain negative. Covid is definitely doing the rounds again with a vengeance. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"8 -
Morning all, thanks for all the good wishes for DD. I facetimed her last night and she was quite poorly, so she'll stay off school for a few days at least. I don't think she was in any fit state to drive there anyway. We had more bad news yesterday afternoon, Mr Fix It has lost another of his cousins with a suspected heart attack, that's the second one to pass away this year. We'll have to sort out something to wear for the funeral now. On a good note, I have finally sourced a new battery for my laptop which arrived and was fitted yesterday.
Today I have stripped the bed and the bedding is in the wm so I will dust and hoover upstairs and remake the bed. I'll make a start after I've put the washing out and another coffee, promise. Not sure about tea tonight, but there is some corned beef open so it may be a corned beef hash.
Gers I love Margaret Rutherford as Miss Marple, she reminds me of the old deputy head at my Grammar school, Fanny LLoyd. They don't make them like that anymore 😊
taff I hope your jab goes smoothly and you're ok afterwards.
RedRuby I have my fingers crossed that you don't have the dreaded lurgy and I shall send healing vibes to your poorly clients.
Coxy Uh Oh! hope everything turns out alright with your DD
Scarlet I've bought some new Xmas cards and postage stamps and that's as far as I've got. Those stockings sound lovely.
Right wm has finished so I'll go and hang it out.
Take care all

Afternoon all, late today,I caught an early bus into town as I had my flu jab booked at B oots. Then I had to do a bit of retail therapy to forget the ache in my arm I got some T shirts in the sale at marks, then the cheap ones from next. I wanted some plain smaller ones ( yipee) to go under my winter cardis so mission accomplished - think I'm all set up for the cold weather now. Bumped into DH cousin and her hubbie in the shopping centre so had a good chat to them.I wanted some new socks too and on my way discovered that the library has temporarily been rehomed into an empty retail unit while repairs are done. I had a look inside and got a new card - as at the start of lockdown 1 they gave me a new account number so I could get ebooks but I never got a physical card. I just took out 1 book that I fancied , a nice customer showed me how to use the scanner thingy as they've all changed since I last used them. We had a bit of a natter, she said she was pleased to have been useful today and thanks it was nice to chatLeftover curry tonight so that's easy.Hope the poorly people get better soon, take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
