Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.It seems to be windy this morning, I think rain is on the cards later.I'm going to go into Durham this morning, I want to go to the indoor market to see if they have any glittered felt, to trim the Christmas stockings that I'm making for my Australian family. I know that glitter is not environmentally friendly, so we'll see.The felt only has a sprinkle of glitter, it's not coated in it.I've made a start with them anyway, and need to get them finished and in the post. They'll have to be airmailed, too late now for surface mail. We're going away next Friday. (going down to the south west to visit members of Dh's family) so I'm thinking about that, what clothes to take etc.The weeks are flying away, I don't know where the time goes.Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks.11

Morning All
It's a lot calmer out this morning but still showery. I think we've had our share of rain for the rest of the year!
I've slept in this morning, good job I'm taking the car! I have a haircut after work so need to get away on time for a change. It's been another interesting week at school, the level of violence seems to have escalated, it's a worrying time.
So glad everything seems to have gone through with the house Nelski, such a shame you were so disappointed with your takeaway.
How's your DM Ruby?
Hope the kitchens are nearly finished now.
Thinking of those with woes and troubles.
Have a good day, take care. XX10 -
Morning all and thanks for the thread nmlc x
WFH today and I have DS1s pup with me today for some companyI didn't sleep well at all - was wide awake at 2.18am and again at 4.40am (ask me how I know...) I managed to buy the paint yesterday for the bedroom - had to go all the way to H0mebase as our local DIY shop couldn't do it. Second coat will be done tomorrow during the day. I also made some homemade soup last night as had some ropey carrots that needed using plus a butternut squash. Made 4 portions so will have one for lunch today. Another bag of bric a brac taken to the charity shop yesterday too. Feeling productive!!
Hope you're feeling brighter @snoozer x
Sorry to hear the behaviour is worsening at school @camelot1001 - do take care x
Your tyre woes made me quite anxious @Gers! DH has taken our car, so I'm using DS2's 20yo pop pop car. It's fine but you really notice all the noises and no way can I beat anyone away from the lights! I was quite worried about doing the 3 mile round trip to the DIY store last night!
Ironing to do after work then I'm off to a friend's house for some nibbles. I will take the bus as I'll have a couple of rum n pepsi maxs.
Have a good day all,
Coxy

Morning folks.Camelot - the forecast is for lots more rain (at least here). 😕 Overnight the wind was howling again.Scarlet - enjoy your visit to Durham, it's a lovely city.Yesterday was almost productive. My appointment with the audiologist was interesting. I explained about how the hearing aid irritated my ear and made it sore. She was very good, gave me three different sized bits for inside my ear and also made a mould so I could have a new aid. Then she told me that I a build up of wax in one ear and advised me to get bicarbonate of soda ear drops which I did. And, because we have a thing called Pharmacy First in Scotland the drops were free of charge. My second bedside table arrived after being delayed for two days and then my lovely new flannelette pyjamas came. They are so soft and cosy but I've put them away to use when the weather gets colder. When I was in Costco on Thursday I bought a pack of three torches which I wrestled out of the packaging and got ready. Now I've dispersed them round the house.Today will be a day of rest. 😂 The forecast is dire. I have my heated throw at the ready.I hope that everyone keeps well and warm. Happy Friday to all.11

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I think we are due a day of rain today. The pattern just now seems to be one day rain, one day fine, one day rain ....
CAMELOT what sort of a world are we living in these days. When the violent behaviour has now spread to young school kids. It's frightening to think how it will all end up. The "good old days" has never been so true has it.
It's Friday Tidy again, though it's just a quick dust and vac up and down. Bathroom, kitchen and bed change got done yesterday. Then I want to start looking on the net for duvets. I started yesterday until DD and the girls burst through the door, followed by 3 hours of chaos! DD has got a new job (after 30 years in her current one!) and is being bombarded with questionnaires and forms to fill in on line. Her aging laptop isn't up to the job so wanted to use mine (which isn't a lot better!) one email contained 13 pages of questions on assorted subjects wanting to know everything apart from what she ate for breakfast! She was stumped when it came to vaccination history, I mean who knows the date of an injection they had donkey's years ago. She rang our surgery and miraculously got to speak to someone helpful! She said I will print them all off for you and you can collect the list!! So the job stopped while she sped off to the surgery. By then the girls were "starving" so I threw some tea together for them in her absence. Eventually, after 3 hours the forms were printed off and the questionnaires submitted and they dashed off to get youngest ready for gymnastics!
Have a nice day folks and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies and fed up take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Morning all; dull but dry here this morning.
Yesterday didn't quite go to plan as, when the new shower enclosure was unwrapped, the side piece was fine but the bifold door had a broken hinge at the top. We are now waiting on the shop to agree to send us a replacement but in the meantime we have an empty shower tray that we can't use! DH was able to clean all the gunge off the side wall though so it should be a quick job to fit the replacement, when it arrives. On a brighter note, we think the ch pump has been fixed with a spray of WD40.
This morning we are having someone come to tidy up the garden for the winter. I can do basic gardening but after 20 mins my back starts to ache and then I stiffen up so we are treating ourselves to this. The person coming is actually the daughter of a friend and she has her own gardening business.
Off to a folk concert in Watford tonight so that means a trip down the M1. Will allow plenty of time as Friday nights can be very busy.
Enjoy your Friday everyone - end of the working week!11 -
Morning all, just sitting with a cuppa, breakfasted, dog walked, dog fed etc. I am planning to get the bus into town at 9 and then go on to Bury Market for a change- I feel like I haven't been anywhere different for ages. I cant use my pass until 9.30, so I'm hoping the next one will be after that.It looks like rain, we'll see.DGS did cross country inter schools last night at the park up the road so we walked up. It was madness, so many kids.Unfortunately he went over on his ankle and couldn't carry on, he was upset, especially as it meant he couldn't go football training after.Right, better go, hope you all have a good day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all
Dry here and the sun is due out later which will be nice, day off for me todayI am going to get my nails done late morning and then I will take the dogs out for a walk and I am hoping to have a nap on the sofa later, I may light the fire to make it all cosy.
My dd has just had her contract sent through for a flat she is buyingits a new build in the village where we live so she will not be far away, its ground floor, there is no garden but there is a patch of grass out the back where she can take the dog for a wee before bed. I am so proud of her she has worked so hard and saved like mad after leaving her abusive ex partner so this will be a fresh start and it will be all hers ! We are currently trying to get her some bits and bobs as she has nothing, we saw a free sofa on market place which is currently in my study and a washing machine is under my stairs ! She still needs a bed and curtains and carpet but anything else can wait, she will hopefully be in before Christmas, I will miss her but am a very proud mum !
Breakfast for dinner tonight so no huge effort, I have put a wash on this morning and will have a tidy round before I go out.
Camelot mum is doing much better thank you, she is taking it easy and resting a lot which is helping xx
Have good days all xx11 -
Morning! Horribly dull and grey but not raining yet! I picked up my new drill yesterday, I upgraded a bit because there was a sale on in Screwfix, so that will be put to use today putting new curtain poles up [and after I read the really good idea of putting torches round the place ready, I'm going to put some hooks in the walls too to hang torches from - thanks Gers]. One of them is hanging out the wall, the other is in the wrong place and is not supporting the weight of the curtains. And a blackout blind. I also got some lead weights for the curtains by the back door to stop them blowing in so much when the back door is open for the prince and princess. Feeding the cats has now turned into my job somehow, but they'll be back Sunday... Good job, I'm falling for the littlest, oldest one who is such a sweetie but has an incurable..He was a rescue there too. And i will be going to Alexander Palace on Sunday for the Knitting show,,,,, ,look out fabric stalls...OH is off the play little men at a tournament tomorrow so I may have a productive day. I tend to not do anything until he goes to work on lates in case I wake him or make too much noise. All clothes are washed just one set of sheets to do and that's the washing caught up with. Living room still a tip though...I'm waiting for Critical Mess stage and then I'll spring into action...Spring? Ha!Scarlet, enjoy day out, hope you find some glitter fabric. Camelot, that's quite scary. Hope it's a quiet one today. Coxy, nothing like the loss of a bit of luxury [ like electric windows and power steering] to remind you how nice it is to drive something modern...I love the auto handbrake on my new car, so muh easier than pulling the handle up. Gers, enjoy the day of rest after tyre shennanigans! TA, congrats to your daughter on her new job [ I think I missed that sorry...] We have a wool duvet, it's SK but it's quite thin but plenty warm enough for the most part, but we do throw a blanket on top in rubbishy cold weather. Ruby, well done to your daughter too, good to hear your mum is improving. Right, off to do cats, so enjoy yourselves today and take care all...Shampoo? No thanks, I'll have real poo...10

Morning
Ruby we timed that really badly she could have had everything from mums house
Off to see mum this morning. I'm afraid I have neglected her a bit since the chaos of the sale but all back on track now. I have a bag of her scarves to take mum is a big scarf wearer so she should be pleased with those. Sadly and yet strangely comforting she doesn't really remember anything you take her so its like Christmas every time I take some of her own things.
Fish finger butties last night for dinner very nice! Tonight is gammon egg and chips then I can freeze the last lump of gammon.
Have great Friday everyone
