£1550 a month turned out not to be doable after a couple of surprise bills (and, if I'm honest, just generally miscalculating household expenses), but I'm still putting in what I can. Pleased to have met the target of £20k paid off - next goal to aim for is getting it below £100k in keeping with my January resolution. I've got just over three years left at 1.23% and I'm never going to get a rate this low again, so I want to be able to save and pay back as much as possible over the next few years.

Managed to get it under six figures! Next goal: try to get the daily interest under £3.

  • I'm currently on track to be under £3 daily interest by the end of the year. Some casual freelancing work fell into my lap the past couple of months, and it's not been above the trading allowance but it's also really not bad money for a few hours - enough to cover the interest until 2025.
I'm continuing to save so that I can pay off as much as possible when the term ends in a couple of years. Even though I won't be able to pay it off entirely, the LTV will be in the zone where I can take my pick of the best rates out there. As I said at the start, I know I'm never going to be able to get 1.2% again, so I'm balancing repayments with savings.
