Avanti train bookings

Options
Is anyone aware why Avanti will not let you book a ticket between London Euston and Chester (though other routes may be affected) from the 22nd October (2 weeks 3 days time)?  Can we assume that once they open these up, we will not get charged the fee they normally charge for bookings closer to the dates?

Avanti are only setting their timetables a couple of days (if that) in advance at present (hence why you can't book tickets in advance on line or via app). You can buy a paper ticket from a ticket desk. In all honesty, if you can avoid travelling with Avanti at the moment, my advice is do so. Even if your train is allegedly running there's a significant chance of it being (a) cancelled at the last minute, or (b) being impossible to board because the previous three trains have been cancelled. You have no idea how utterly fed up with Avanti us Cumbrians are currently.... >:)

Thanks Skiddaw1 - it's been a real nightmare over the last year (plus) and have travelled by the Midlands train service adding  quite a bit to the journey time. Terrible service by Avanti as you can imagine especially for those travelling to their work in London..

It's not just Avanti. You can't currently book any tickets for travel after 21st October with GWR or any route on the West Coast mainline.
