Morning
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dark, dry and chilly start to the day.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was jacket potato, beans and cheese, cold meat, boiled egg and salad. Tonight will be shepherds pie with veg and gravy.
Work wasn't too bad yesterday - hopefully today the same, but my half day but I have several chores to do later.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks - thanks for starting us off nmcl.Yesterday's frightful start turned into a less awful day by the afternoon. I did a lot of organising, watching TV and thinking I almost ordered a TV table for the now empty spare room but didn't - it was that kind of day. This morning I'm off early to Glasgow for my postponed appointment from Friday and taking the opportunity to get to Costco and various other places whilst I'm down there. I'm taking back a handbag I bought last week, it was an impulse buy and not the right bag for me, plus I don't even need another one.The weather is meant to be rainy and cold so I've dug out my winter walking boots and am ensconced in my my really lovely new jumper. It's soft lambswool with a funnel neck, the only thing is that I can't stand any wool next to my skin so have got a T shirt underneath and that doesn't reach my neck and chin so I may have to add in a scarf. Yes, I know, it's a first world problem. 🫢The Rest and Be Thankful was closed yesterday because of the rain with traffic taken in convoy down the Old Military Road, fingers crossed that it's open today. Honestly, £25M spent on 'mitigation measures' and still it gets closed by heavy rain. Grrr.Anyway, I hope that everyone (babies too) are feeling better and getting on with things. Happy Wednesday to all.PS - just heard on BBC Radio 2's traffic news that the Rest is still closed, so the long convoy for me then.10

Good morning, Thanks for starting NMLC.Good to see you back Taff, you seem to have been away for ages!Nels, I'm pleased that you've finally got your mum's house off your hands, you'll be relieved, you can stop thinking about it now.Hope your mum is doing all right Ruby.We had a pottering sort of day yesterday. I went down to our High street and was in The Wo*ks, looking at a Mary Berry book, with intention to buy, when all the lights went off - apparently it had happened earlier on as well so they had to close the shop, They couldn't use the till. Our high street seems to be having this electricity problem in the last few weeks, there must be a problem somewhere.I might go to the Metro Centre today, for a change. There's a few things I want to look at. There's not a direct bus now, they are cutting services here, but I can still go using 2 buses.Hope everyone is all right, take care folks.11

Morning
Bad night sleep wise goodness knows why as I was very relieved the sale had finally gone through. I had a takeaway as promised but my MSE side kicked in big style and I felt beans on toast may have been a far better option. It was awful! Clearly all cooked a long time ago and the majority went in the bin. Won't be using them again and it wasn't cheap.
The boiler man didn't arrive yesterday so had to rearrange for Thurs. He did call to let me know and apparently had lots of dead boilers to deal with so I guess his priorities were good as mine is just a service. Today I have the meter door being repaired. They are due at 8 but knowing my history with tradesmen I'll believe it when I see it. Hoping it does work out as I could really do with sending some readings.
The slow house sort continues today. Tonight Im going to have some HM chilli in wraps should be a lot better than last night.
Have a good day all

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Our forecast of heavy rain and gale force winds has been downgraded now just to rain and a stiff breeze, which I suppose is marginally better! I was going to go down and get the bus along the valley bottom again but now I am wondering if I can be bothered! I'll ponder on it for a while.
Yesterday's trip into town was a bit of a fruitless one. Ambling through the shopping centre was like wandering through a ghost town with a lack of shoppers and even more closed down shops. It's such a shame as back in the day we had such a bustling little town.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies or fed up. NELS what was the takeaway! Take care one and all and be safe xx

Morning all and thanks for the start nmlc x
Like @Floss I really enjoyed the film last night - some uplifting moments and the dresses were fab. Late night though and I have a headache this morning. Luckily I'm WFH today but there's a lot going on and very grumpy colleagues, so need to get my head down. More painting tonight - the woodwork in our bedroom needs a final coat plus we need to move some furniture to the garage/upstairs in readiness for the wood flooring fitting next week. DH is away from tomorrow morning until Monday night, so it's down to me to supervise the tradesmen oooof!
Congrats @Nelski on the house sale but sorry your takeaway wasn't up to much x
@Gers safe journey today x
Hope you can keep posting @poppy811 xx
Get well soon @snoozer and hugs to little Nate x
Dinner tonight is SW carbonara - new big number on the scales this morning (plus 13 3/4lbs, but still!) That 1lb loss will be mine this week!!
Have a good day all

Morning all. Windy here today and we might get some rain later.
Nelski: I'm sorry the Chinese was a disappointment. Here, we find that the Thai takeaways are the best, plus there's usually enough to share.
Yesterday was busy with childcare. We took DGS to Wrest Park but things have changed there and you can no longer go in the cafe/play area unless you pay to go in the grounds. Needless to say we found somewhere else to go and wound up at a large garden centre, where DGS had great fun exploring the numerous sheds, greenhouses and summerhouses out on display.
Today I'll be busy helping with the Community Larder and we have at least 3 volunteers down with Covid so might be extra busy. I've offered to get one person's shopping, seeing as she's poorly, so will drop that round this afternoon. DH is going to buy some sausages from the butcher when he's in town, and we'll have those tonight, roasted in the oven with some red onion and potato wedges.
Off to start my day; might need another cuppa first though10 -
Morning all
Dull and overcast here and some rain due after lunch, I have two clients coming today one is finally back from his holiday, the other one I shall have to go and pick up as there is a train strike today, I think we will get out for a walk this morning and then come home and bake or do some crafts.
Dinner tonight will be something with mince, either a spag bol of chilli I think, or maybe a cottage pie seeing as the weather is bad. I might do some spuds after this to get ahead of myself.
DW has been emptied and I have put a wash on, it will have to go on the airer.
Nels I am so pleased for you that the house went through, such a shame about the takeaway though xx
Snoozer I hope you and Nate feel better soon xxx
Have good days all xxx10 -
Morning all...By the sounds of the wind a not nice day is in store, glad I cut the wood yesterday, I can go and chop it in the garage now. Pressed the pause button on doing the putting away of things, I did outside things instead and still haven't done any washing, not sure the tumble drier expense is called for for one wear or no wear tops/trousers. Most of it could go into storage, because I need to get the winter stuff out now. Now if only I could remember what I put in what laundry bag I'd be over the moon...Looking round the living room will no doubt prompt me to shift my behindNels, congratulations, so pleased it's over for now apart from the sorting and definitely apart from the takeaway...I'd say rest up for a bit but you probably won't dp1, hope you're ok after your jab. Bella, enjoy grandson time. NRA, toally throwing yourself into retirement now, I like it! nanny, hope your appointment goes well. snoozer, boo to the cold...and the colic and stuff. Ruby, I love a bit of recipe talking...I have comfort food in my head now, didn't get round to cooking anything except a down and dirty pasta sauce, so I'll get my plan ahead head on...:) Take care today all, winter is most defnitely coming...Shampoo? No thanks, I'll have real poo...9

Morning all,Thanks for the start Nmlc. The weather is awful today, rain kept me awake last night and still raining really hard now so I got wet on the dog walk- well I say walk but she kept trying to drag me homewards, doesn't like rain our Ly1a.Good to hear the new owner is in eventually,Nels but sorry you were unfortunate with your takeaway choice. We stick to our tried and trusted Indian & Italian ones.We had to do a last minute pickup from school of DGS, his DM rang DS in tears as she was at work & had been let down with his usual Tues person so we went. Just needed to take him home though as his other DG was there with the other 2. Tonight he is at an afterschool craft club which doesn't finish until quarter to 5, then we'll take him over to DS, and stay with them both as it's DGD parents evening. Not sure what to do about tea though!I am meeting a friend at lunch, so hope the rain eases off a bit or I'll look like a drowned rat.Coxy well done on the weight loss, I am at that stage too and that 1/4 lb makes a big difference to moralePoppy, I am sorry you are not well, I quite understand if you don't feel up to posting, but I'm sure we all will be thinking of you & send our love and best wishes xxHugs to those in need, take care xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
