I've studied parts of degree but not completed. I don't think it can be of any police interest.

This is all very strange as in September two years ago you were asking the very same question on this site.

Are you still waiting to hire that developer?  Or finish your degree? What happened?

Have you registered yourself as a business in the proper manner? I run my own small freelance online business and before I started, before I even earned a penny, I registered as self-employed and submitted tax returns at the appropriate times. I do have some finances to fall back on but even so, if you're going to be a business - freelance or whatever, you do need to register so you can pay the appropriate tax/NI. More details in the following link -

You don't seem to have any information for prospective employees to peruse. For example, what kind of contract are you offering?

If you're going to hire an employee there are major considerations - they have to be paid a regular salary, you have to register them with HMRC so that their income tax and NI contributions can be made, also as an employer you have to contribute to their pension.

You say you still haven't finished that degree. Will you be doing so? It's superfluous information in any case because why would any prospective employee be bothered about your qualifications? Surely you should be more bothered about their qualifications.

My sister in law had absolutely no qualifications whatsoever but managed to run a successful hairdressing business for over thirty years. Her degree? None. But she still managed to hire employees - they didn't want to know whether or not she had any qualifications either, they just wanted a job. You don't need to tell them about you because it's none of their business.

If you wanted to be a web developer on your own on a freelance basis, that'd be much easier to do and you wouldn't have to worry about anyone else either.

But whatever happens, you do need to have a business plan. For example, how is your business going to work and how are you going to support yourself and a web developer?

When you advertise you should be thinking about the qualities a prospective employee should have -

Qualifications, skills, experience. And then you will need to ask for references. And state what salary you are offering.

You don't need to put anything about you - which will then remove the need for anyone to report you or send for the police.

But you do need to be clear about what duties any employee will be expected to carry out. And it's always best for them to sign a legal contract. Anything else is just plain misleading and could well lead to a court case, without the need for any police to come. (But with a big headache and potentially a lot of money to pay.)
