I've had this happen with my lloyds (yuk, pah etc!) account before-they just decline things because they feel like it I reckon! The website got back to me to let me know it wouldn't go through, but lloyds never bothered. When I contacted them they tried to make out I had a faulty card-how can it be the card, it was an internet transaction! :rotfl:
Funnily enough my account is with Lloyds as well...! :rolleyes:Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein0 -
I've had Goldfish ring me - when I first purchased off the internet; when I booked two lots of flights (Sri Lanka and Austria) within days of each other. The payments were authorised but they were just double checking - no problem.
However my sister informed Barclays she was going away for 3 months to Indonesia and would be using her card accordingly; and on requesting funds the transaction was refused and she had to telephone them. Reason given - you have not used this card for 2 months and now are using it in Indonesia - that is why she informed them first! I could not get money out in Sri Lanka as my Visas are now Mastercard and Cirrius. Changed for our convenience!

You may remember that yesterday (?) I sent IWOOT an email telling them to stick up their @r$e?
Well the order turned up today!
I don't know whether to be pleased - or peed off!

I feel your pain, banks are just glorified commercial entities, wanting to make money rather than provide a service.0

Egg aren't always so exemplary I'm afraid. My friend lost her concert tickets when they put a stop on her card because of a large transaction she'd made and didn't bother calling to tell her. She only found out when the concert people emailed her a few days later.
I rang my bank to tell them I was going to be in NYC for a week and there would be transactions on my card. They told me they'd note the dates of my travel but couldn't guarantee it wouldn't trigger stops on my card. Sure enough, I couldn't buy anything at the Apple store without a long (and expensive!) call from New York.
I wouldn't mind this "over-protection" so much if they were consistent. My friend banks with the same bank and they didn't pick up any triggers when she used her card in London to buy her lunch, then 30 mins later somebody in Tunisia used a cloned version at an ATM....she even had a tough time getting them to agree it was fraud!0
