Wowcher , Groupon hotel breaks

I've been looking at a two-night break via the above sites. Some of the offers for a half board break state I would have to call a premium rate number often 13p a minute plus my own network charges.  Has anyone booked a break and if so how long did it take to get through to a real person and what day of the week/time was this, please?

Also, the deals do seem to be good savings when compared with hotel booking sites and or websites that belong to the hotel.  Are there any catches?

Btw, I've never been on a half-board uk hotel trip - what time is dinner or between what times is the norm, please?

I've booked a couple of Groupon half board hotel breaks, and they have been fab. I don't recall having to call a premium rate number for any of them, I just had to phone the hotel to make the reservation and quote the Groupon code number and I'm sure it was just to an ordinary landline number.

With regard to the evening meals, these weren't at any set time. We just went to the restaurant and ordered from the menu at whatever time we wanted, although I do recall that the evening meal had a set 'allowance' that was included, and if we wanted something more expensive than that we paid the extra when we checked out. For instance I recall that ordering steak which was the most expensive main course incurred an extra charge.

We had a lovely break at a hotel in the Lake District, and I called the hotel first to ask whether I might be able to purchase two Groupon deals and use them back-to-back to create a 6 day holiday, and they were fine about that.
