Morning all. It's very chilly so I'm off to get my first coffee, I'll be back when under my duvet again.

It's so much better in bed, it's cold, wet and windy outside.Yesterday my medical appointment was cancelled just half an hour beforehand, seems that the laser machine was broken. 🙁 Anyway it meant that I could get home a bit earlier so I did my little shopping and got back up the road. The drive was particularly bad coming over the Rest and Be Thankful, huge gusts of wind full of rain which looked like blankets coming over.Once home I did a bit of putting the two rooms to right, not all is done, just enough to make things comfortable for sleeping. I'll tackle the rest today.Today I'll be making a big pot of lentil soup, I need hearty food for the week ahead. It's also the day for doing the monthly budgeting spreadsheet. 😀
I hope that everyone is doing well and keeping warm. Happy Saturday to all.8 -

Morning All
Slow down izzy, such a lot to do today!
It's a bit showery this morning but nothing like yesterday, the rain was epic all morning. The sun did make an appearance in the afternoon - as if nothing had happened! I want to change the bed but will leave it until tomorrow as the weather looks a little better then and I might get it dried outside.
Our cake sale went well but not as well attended as previously. The clothes bank was also a success but still lots to take to the charity shop on Monday. I was exhausted when I got home so had a bath and did just about nothing all evening.
What a pain that your appointment was cancelled at such short notice Gers. Glad you've chosen some new furniture.
Pleased to hear your nephew has gone home Ruby, so selfish to have your DM drive him.
Lovely to hear from you Marie.
Good luck picking your flooring Scarlet, such a big decision to make.
Right, I'm off for a swim this morning then allotment to put most of what's left in the compost heap. I have my flu (and maybe covid) jag at 6.19 (very precise) this evening, not looking forward to that at all.
Have a good weekend, take care. XX10 -
Morning all. I think we had our first frost overnight as I could see it on my neighbour's roof first thing.
Our patio doors have condensation on the outside this morning; first time that's ever happened. Plus, it's not very warm inside at all so it means I'll either need to turn up the thermostat or the ch isn't working properly.
Right, so today I'm determined to buy a new kettle. I've also realised that we can write the 3 Christmas cards for Australia and send them back with my sister in law, so that's about £5 saved. I'll do a birthday card for DH's nephew over there as well.
We did our 3 mile walk yesterday but the pub we passed looked a bit grotty so we went instead to a nice farm shop/cafe/deli and had scrambled eggs on toast for lunch. DH had his with bacon. Neither of us then wanted Thai curry for dinner as we were too full so that's been moved on to tonight.
Camelot: DH has his combined Covid/Flu jab this morning so I've mentally written off the rest of the weekend.
Izzy: you'll be exhausted after all that!
Gers: definitely soup weather now. I'll have to get started on making some.
Happy Saturday everyone. I'll be watching the rugby on tv this afternoon.9 -
Waiting on a shopping delivery this morning and tomorrow is my Covid booster. Not sure if flu vaccine is being offered but happy to have it if I can.
considering not sending Christmas cards this year as postage is so expensive but perhaps make a donation to a charity8 -
Morning all
Dry and sunny here, but yesterday afternoon / evening was terrible blowing a gale and rain lashing down, we are warm and cosy with the log burner doing its thing.
I took my mum for her appointment yesterday and she had a funny turn, she almost fainted, they bought her out in a wheelchairshe went to stand up and she said the room started spinning, the nurses tested her blood sugars and she was really high, so we got her into the car and I bought her some savoury snacks which helped until she got home, the nurses thought she may have been doing too much and not eating enough, once home I made her something to eat and got her into bed, she felt much better after a couple of hours, but she has decided to give up her car as she said she didnt feel safe driving nephew home. I am going to message my SIL and tell her he can stay for no more than two days in future (because he will be back they are just to selfish to see the harm they are doing) and she will need to bring him and take him back in future, I think its just too much for mum now. I shall go up when she wakes up and make her some breakfast.
Burger in a bun and chips tonight, OH can cook as he has not done so for a while.
Housework to do this morning and then I need to pop to a couple of shops.
Have good days all and take care xxx8 -
Morning all, the sun is out today after epic proportions of rain yesterday. I have the wm on and will hang it out and hopefully it won't rain🤞
I did a lot of sorting yesterday and put some summer stuff away to make room for the winter wear. In a drawer I found a lovely new thick top that I had forgotten about (it still had the labels on it!) so that's now ready to wear. I have a sm delivery this morning and if it comes early enough, we shall go up Dad's to fix his toilet flush before it gives up the ghost completely.
I found some steak in the freezer sort out yesterday, so we'll have that for tea, I'll finish off the last portion of cheesey potato pie and Mr Fix It will have chips.
TA hope you had some lovely memories yesterday and a happy evening/night with your DGD's. 🧡
Poppy I'll send a few cards, but my list gets shorter every year as people pass away 😞
Have a good day all, take care.

Morning everyone
A very peaceful start for me now little one is back home - I had a lovely long chat with eldest DD in Germany before I got up at almost 9am. She is off to Turkey next Sunday for work - should be interesting...visiting mills and factories which produce Puma clothes. And staying in a rather fancy looking hotel.
I need to go into town this morning to collect my new glasses and I need a few bits in Home Bargains. The washing lines are full and there's more to go out - it should all dry today as it is sunny and windy.
Bad news yesterday - the little village school our nursery is part of is earmarked for closure - big shock for everyone but plans are being made to fight it. At the minute we still have 3 tier schools here, but there is currently a consultation about whether to change to 2 tier like most of the country. However our school is to be closed whatever the decision. Hopefully it can be stopped as it is a really lovely little school. My girls went there and little one is supposed to start there next September.
Right I better get moving. Hope everyone has a good day x
Izzy you make me feel tired! Have a sit down later x7 -
Hi everyone,
After a very wet night it looks like it will be a nice day, which is good because L and B are off to London for a belated anniversary meal and a friend's birthday party so we are on Esben duty. He is on antibiotics now and seems a bit brighter today. No trains so they will have to drive down to London.
I've not been over to see Nate since Wednesday, they had a much better night and a good day on Thursday and yesterday Chris was working from home. I made a beef stew on Thursday and portioned some out for them but I'll have to put it in the freezer for now.
My brain feels fried today so I'll love you and leave you, have a good day.
dp1, we cross posted. The schools round here transitioned to two tier over the last few years and they closed the local middle school which is at the end of our road. It is based round a mansion with grounds which was gifted to the town for educational purposes. It was very short sighted because the local secondary is oversubscribed and it would have made a lovely 6th form college. The feeling around here is that the local authority is just waiting till it gets permission from the govt to break the educational covenant and they will sell it off for housing (and the town will probably get no benefit from the cash at all) grr.8
