Official Receiver going after my ex-wife's/children's house

Options
I am now released from bankruptcy but my official receiver is demanding money from my ex-wife for equity in her house. This is quite complex...

I moved out of that house in 2013
We divorced in 2016
I remained on the mortgage as she would not be able to get one on her salary
Her parents put in a sizeable chunk for the deposit
When we separated, there was no equity in the house above the deposit so I moved out and rented and have been since then.
Official Receiver has now had a valuation done and has sent my ex wife a letter saying that she has to give him £70k or sell the house.

Can anyone help with some advice on this?

I would say that your wife needs independent legal advice. As a home owner, she probably has home insurance that includes legal expenses cover, so she should call the legal helpline provided by her insurer. She will need to be clear that you are not a policyholder, so there is no conflict of interest.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

As above, how the property was dealt with in the divorce will be important here.  You wife really does need professional advice.

You said "I remained on the mortgage as she would not be able to get one on her salary".

When my marriage broke down I wanted my ex-husband's name off the mortgage and the deeds and somehow that was done. So the house was then my sole responsibility, even though I wouldn't have been able to get a mortgage on my own at that time as my salary was very low and I was a single parent.

Sadly, because your credit history is still linked with your ex's, her own credit reports will be in a bad state.

As others have said, your ex needs some professional advice. And quick. Maybe she will have to sell the house. It might not be a bad thing. But she does need to get that help first.
