Nectar offers points not showing for last few online shops

Just a heads up for anyone buying from Sainsbury's online and taking up the weekly Nectar points offers...

I keep an eye on my build up of Nectar points, especially this time of year, as I use them to stock up on wine in one of the end of year 25% off offers.

Looking on my Nectar 'Activity' page, the last 4 of my online Sainsbury's deliveries don't have any offers nectar points showing, just those associated with the number of £ spent. So, 90 points for a £90 shop, but not all the points for the things I bought to get the 'extra' points outlined in their weekly email to me.

I phoned and was told there's a glitch in the system and to allow 28 days for them to show...well, the first missing week is 24 days ago and still not showing.

There's no way to check which items had which bonus points associated in those weeks though. So for my most recent shop I kept a note. 600 bonus points due, so that's £3. If I managed the same in the three shops prior to that, also missing, that's £9 Sainsbury's haven't credited me.

Anyway, just saying in case others need to check and contact Sainsbury's too. I sometimes think if enough people spot the supposed glitch, they'll magically 'fix' it...call me cynical, but getting people buying things they maybe wouldn't have bought, for extra points, and then not rewarding them, isn't a bad money spinner when you scale it up across the country!

  • If you shop online like I do watch what is happening with extra nectar points on things you buy often.

    I get a message each week from nectar to save the offers, which I do. They have had some blip the last couple of weeks and they haven't been sending these through. They tell me it is being sorted and I will have them within 28 days. They have sent some through, but not the full amount.

    I would advise when you do your online shopping to take a note of the product and how many extra points you will receive so you can go back and tell them you are short. These extra points add up more than the points you receive for the cost of your shopping. For instance my shopping points this week came to 41 and the extras 680 although they short changed me  by only giving me 450 instead of 680. I will leave it for the 28 days then be back to them on what I am missing.

    Yes must keep an eye and I'm doing the same as you. I now list down all these extra points and the items they appertain to. As you say you cannot trace these back once they have gone.

    I'd suggest a screenshot as well as a list for the future - always easier to convince the minimum wage customer service rep that it did in fact say 600 extra points on this day when you have visual proof. Unless the reward emails & receipts are enough 'evidence' - I don't use sainsbury's at the moment, I just know how useful screenshots have been with similar issues.

  • Thanks givememoney and Mnoee - my update is that all four weeks of the bonus nectar points have now come through, showing in my Nectar activity (each of the four appeared differently dated, and appeared one at a time over the last 2 weeks).

    For my most recent shop nearly two weeks ago (for which I'd kept screenshots of my bonus nectar items), the bonus nectar points showed up in the usual way.

    So hopefully that glitch is fixed...but it would have been a loss to just wave goodbye to them, those 4 weeks of bonus points for me equated to £9.35!
