Octopus agile outgoing

I'm just waiting for my G98 which I've been told will be done by Friday this week at the latest.
I can then submit everything to join outgoing tariff. How long does it take on average once you press submit to when you're 'accepted' and can start getting paid for what you put back into the grid

  • Might take a while to get an export MPAN from the DNO. Then they need 30 min meter readings for you to go on agile outgoing...

I think 3 days is probably optimistic 😅
  • our mcs certificate already had a mpan number on it. or will it need a new one again

This is based on actual experience across 3 households as recently as last week. It does assume you have your DNO and MCS documentation like we did.

I emailed copies of my documents to Octopus on 17th March with the SEG application and they started paying me from 5th April, so around 3 weeks.

Mine says Supply MPAN - e.g. your current import MPAN. You need an export MPAN to be generated by the DNO which is normally the limiting factor afaik.
  • thanks. I've had my DNO letter today so submitted it all and will just wait and see.

6weeks for me from application submission till confirmation from Octopus. I think Octopus are swamped with workload due to SEG, Tariff changed and price cap. Add to this the DNO who have their hands full.

For a historical perspective took me 4 weeks to be FIT registered in 2015.

    System 2 - 20 x 330W Jinko Panels + Enphase IQ7+ microinverters (Jan 2022) + Givenergy AC Coupled inverter + 2 * 8.2KWh Battery (May 2022) + Mitsubishi 7.1 KW and 2* Daikin 2.5 KW A2A Heat Pump
  • the company who generate the MPAN say they are taking about a week so hopefully be done in the next couple of weeks
