Buying Refurbished Mobiles

Hi
I need to buy a new phone for my daughter, but I don't want to spend a fortune on it and I want to buy it outright so I can use a cheap sim.
I'm looking at a refurbished Samsung, maybe S9 (She wants an i phone but personally think they are more than they are worth, especially for her age). She currently has a S6 but battery doesn't last the day which is no good when she walks to and from school.
I've looked at ones in Argos, Music Magpie, Cex, O2 and the local mobile shop in town.
Just wondering if anyone has any experience of a refurbished mobile and knows where the better place to get it might be? Or is it just pot luck?!
Thanks

Galaxy S9 is now End of Life / out of support and as of March 2022 has not been getting any security updates.
What budget are you thinking of spending?1 -
I only ever buy refurbished phones probably 2-3years old, but they do for 3-4 years and cost a fraction of new prices.Last two I've purchased through Amazon.1

Thanks. I'm not sure of budget. The less the better
I guess about £200. Shes 12 so I don't think she needs an all singing all dancing phone. They are all so expensive!0 -
And I'm only suggesting £200 as it's what I've looked at. Happy to consider other brands or cheaper model.0

I've never bought refurbished, but I totally understand the desire for a lower cost than the prices for the latest top-brand phone.
I meet that criteria by a Moto G7 phone.
We got our first Moto phone (G4) because my nephew had one and it was so impressive.
Then got the G5 and I now have the G7 while my wife has the G9.
When a new phone is required, I can't see any reason to go to any other brand so will look for the next version of the Moto G-series. They are typically around £150 sim-free.
Before the first Moto, I had Samsung Galaxy S2 and then S4, but they were so expensive.
The Moto phones we had do everything that the Samsung phones do, but just sometimes a little bit less graphics.
Battery life on the Motos is several days.1 -

How about £89.99 for a new phone: https://www.johnlewis.com/motorola-e20-smartphone-android-2gb-ram-6-5-inch-4g-sim-free-32gb/coastal-blue/p5885921
My neighbour's teenager was given one for her birthday (14th) and loves it.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1
