I'm not very helpful regarding suggestions, but my husband never used to buy me anything. One year, for my 30th he bought me a Dyson, and I felt like lumping him with it! He was chuffed when he gave it to me as well. I would rather not had anything to be honest. That's almost 10 years ago and I still don't let him forget it. :p

Was your wife serious when she said she'd be happy with a Dyson for her Christmas?
  • im sure she was messing around but then so am i, this is a joke pressent to go along with items listed above and im on the look out for a nice locket and cheap pamper days in norwich not because im tight but because she set a £75 budget this year because all spent out on the wedding so going for sentimentle presents and a bit of a funny one... (hover) besides she is always saying she hates our hoover so dont think she would be too upset, like i said not her main present and she has a sense of humour..... sometimes!;)

Well, if you're sure she'll take it in good humour lol At least you're going to have other pressies to make up for it. As long as you don't mind getting the evils from her girly friends when she tells them what you got her for her Christmas, and she says 'a Dyson' ;):D
  • Personally, as "jokey" pressies go, I would say the Dyson would be a fantastic idea! I love Dysons, they are great hoovers (I've used their uprights & think the Animal model's very good - think it was a DC14) and are quite expensive to justify buying for yourself, so you giving it to her would be a good idea.

Keep an eye out for that more personal present (locket/necklace = lovely idea) & just a thought, but maybe you can safeguard yourself from purchasing-Dyson-for-Xmas-related backlash by offering to do the hoovering a couple of times a week from now on?! :rotfl:

You seem very thoughtful. But it may be a good idea to check that she really wants a Dyson...and as pricey as they are you could give her the other gifts as well so it doesn't look like you want her to clean more.

I have had Christmases where I haven't had anything from my husband. I remember one year when he gave me a Lavender products gift set which I have never opened. Hoping this year he will be more thoughtful : )

  • i am going to give her the nice presents after i give her the hoover, just dont know which one, as for offering to hoover up a few times... i work nights so do all the hoovering when i get home and shes at work, unless its the weekend then she does it. also looking for ipods or mp3, whichever people think are best? thankyou all for taking time to help. oh... one other thing, sorry, where and how do people get there photoes shrunk to fit in tiny little lockets? dont want to seem thick but i have no idea and have always wondered? thanks again.

I'm no help at all but I did just want to say that you sound like a wonderful husband. We were talking about this today and I was actually saying pressies don't need to cost very much but are so much better when someone actually puts thought and meaning into their gifts. You have most definately done this and I think your pressie ideas are fantastic.
Well done that chap and I hope you and your wife have a great christmas.

If you really want to buy your new wife a hoover for xmas (brave brave man :D ) go with the little round one if you have stairs, and the upright one if you don't. What type do you currently have? And where do you keep it? Will a different shaped one fit?

(I have the small round one, and I make the OH use it, as ALL Dysons are too heavy for girls to carry :D )

Are you thinking that £48.50 would be worth £194 if spent online? They're only worth 4 x the value when you opt for Tesco Clubcard deals tokens, I don't think there are any that have Dysons on offer. If you didn't mean that, ignore me, I'm a bit brainless at the moment too :o

I'm sure she'll love the newspaper pressie :j
