Hello, how difficult would it be to ask the government to back date Stamp Duty Land Tax Reduction Threshold Changes?
In todays financial climate, everyone has been affected, including those who paid Stamp Duty since in was re-introduced after the Stamp Duty holiday.

By back dating the new Changes, it will potentially help stimulate economic growth by giving those homeowners a financial boost.
Would a petition be the best way, or is it a fruitless task?

I would think if the Chancellor had wanted to backdate the change in Stamp Duty, he would have done so. So I think a petition would be a fruitless task.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

There has to be a deadline at some point.
If you backdate the changes by 1 month, why not backdate them by 2 months? 3 months? 4 months?
There will always be someone who completed their purchase a day before the tax rate changed.1 -
Generally speaking, the stamp duty reduction happened at the same time as mortgage rated shot up. I know the thousands my son lost on his purchase he will more than recoup by having a much lower interest rate on his mortgage.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
