Default Notice from M+S Bank after bankruptcy

Hi,
Just had a scary letter from M+S Bank telling me I have a ‘default notice’. Says it includes a demand for repayment by 5 October. They obviously know I have gone bankrupt so I thought creditors weren’t supposed to contact me demanding payment now. Do I need to take action or is this letter a formality? It never ends, more to worry about !

It`s absolutely nothing to worry about.
Yet I`m kind of concerned that you should re-act in this way to a statutory default notice.
You're a bankrupt, you must understand the reasons why you went bankrupt, and that bankruptcy releases you from all your debts, so why would you take any action with this? yes, it is a mere formality, as you must surely know.
The debt this default notice pertains to will be included, as will all of your debts, so the creditor has no remedy against you, that is the bottom line really.
It`s just a bog-standard default notice anyway, there are certain letters a creditor must send under the terms of the consumer credit act, in the case of bankruptcy/insolvency, some do, others don`t bother, I would regard it as for information purposes only, and move on, when does your bankruptcy end by the way, what is your dis-charge date?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Just keep at the forefront of your mind, the fact that whatever demand/letter may come in the post, your bankruptcy usurps everything.
Good luck.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. It's the problem with 'one size fits all' computer generated letters. They can be quite blunt. I suspect it's a bog standard rather than customised letter using a mail merge type processHMRC letters use quite an aggressive template.May you find your sister soon Helli.
