Agreement in principle

Hi! First time poster so please be gentle! 
We have offered on a property and are now in the process of getting our agreement in principle. How long does that usually take? We are using  a financial advisor/ broker .
only complication I can see is my age! 
I’m 64 and my hubby is 59 both working though 
We have a £10000 deposit too but it seems to be taking forever to sort 
any advice will be greatly appreciated

    In theory it should only take a couple of hours maybe. Some research and some admin. 
    But if you are complex - which to be fair you do not sound the most straight forward, it can take longer. 

    What do you class as forever? If you are beyond 3-4 days then maybe find a new broker or give the current broker a nudge.
